Hi everyone

For a long time my routine has been fine but my skin is becoming oiler and greasier I think, so now I’m shiny after 6 hours or so when previously the below wouldn’t budge. Any recommendations from those with similar skin types?

Nivea Cellular Day Cream
Smashbox (original transparent) primer
Estée Lauder Double Wear

Set with: Mac mineralise powder and urban decay setting spray.

I have a feeling it might be the Nivea that doesn’t sink into my skin that well anymore, so possibly the base of it all is too wet/slide-y.

I've stopped using primer and replaced it with alive gets gel. It's a revelation.

Moisturiser is childs farm.

Foundation is currently max factor mousse stuff.

Aloe Vera gel. Not alive gets 😂😂😂

MandaraSugar · 09/03/2018 08:34

I was thinking ‘Alive Gets’ must be an obscure brand i’d never heard of!

Thanks for the tip - is this aloe vera on after moisturiser or in place of?

Ordinary map serum, ultraceuticals sunscreen (mat spf50 formula), then foundation is either oily/combo skin revlon colorstay (for work/everyday), or Giorgio armani or illamasqua for social occasions

I’ve decided primer breaks me out especially the smashbox one.

Might try aloe Vera gel!

I've stopped using a primer and replaced it with an Aldi BB cream. I tried so many primers over the years and wasted to much money. I've yet to find a primer that holds my makeup more than a couple of hours - cheap or expensive. I picked this up in Aldi one day and just put it on one morning to see what it looks like. It didn't really even out my skin so proceeded with my Bare Minerals original power foundation and discovered that it stayed put till after lunchtime!

Destinysdaughter · 09/03/2018 09:22

Have you tried putting powder on before foundation? Sounds strange, but it actually works!

mojito55 · 09/03/2018 09:27

Is it a new bottle of double wear? They changed the formula in January and loads of people have been saying the new one doesn't hold back shine as well.

mojito55 · 09/03/2018 09:30

Correction sorry, apparently they changed the formula in July last year. Does that correspond with your change in oiliness?

ItsAllABitStrangeReally · 09/03/2018 09:30

Op, I use it after moisturiser or sometimes just use the aloe gel.

It's amazing, gives a lovely finish and I don't get the horrible flaking I got with primer.

ABuckToothedGirlinLuxembourg · 09/03/2018 09:35

At the moment it’s glossier priming moisturiser, followed by hourglass mineral veil, then Bobbi Brown serum foundation.

AnaViaSalamanca · 09/03/2018 09:55

those of you who want to try aloe gel be careful, a friend of mine developed allergies and skin issues (red spots under the skin) after continued use.

wowfudge · 09/03/2018 15:37

I use YSL Top Secrets Instant Moisture Glow and either Bourjois CC cream or Clarins Extra Comfort foundation depending on how much coverage I want. I have dry skin on my cheeks but am otherwise prone to an oily t zone. I sometimes also use Pur primer.

I've found Wilko's Kiss 'Prime of your life' primer at £3 the best primer, it works particularly well over my Nivea Soft moisturiser and under my Loreal Total cover infallible foundation. I've recently tried Rimmel's translucent stay matte face powder, which i really like.

I also really like Max Factor Ageless Elixir Miracle Foundation - i find the Nivea Post Shave Balm works very good under this or just the Nivea Soft.
