Please can someone explain how I do this? What exactly do you type in/search for?

Unless you know what you’re looking for I’d just go generic “spring fashion” or whatever and see what came up. Then if you click on things you like you can usually see other similar styles

I often search for "item + outfit" (so "skinny jeans outfit" or something), for ideas how to style a specific item, maybe something I'm thinking of buying. Once you start looking and pinning things you like, you'll get used to how it works and know what you want to look for.

When you click on a pinned image, you can scroll down and it will show you other ideas you might like based on that pin - so you can also browse that way.

I find Pinterest frustrating rather than inspiring. When I find something that I like clothingwise there seems to be no way of knowing where the items are from or whether they're still available.

Am I doing it wrong?

Pins can be from years ago, or from any source that's not a website selling items, so yeah it can't really be used for that unless you're prepared to do some digging or you get lucky.

You can always use google, or a search engine like shopstyle or polyvore, to try and find a specific item if you like it in an outfit on Pinterest.

I use it for ideas because it is hard to track down an exact item. For example I might search "Skinny jeans and boots winter" and use the search results to see if I have anything similar in my wardrobe. So I get inspired to try different colours together or items that I already own.
