Is there any point buying anything esp beauty products in the USA any more? Seems like Benefit etc are pretty much the same price now with the crap exchange rate. No outlet malls etc, as staying in Manhattan and don't want to schlep to a mall. What about Tarte?

I bought quite a lot of makeup/skincare last summer. Sephora has a great range of things you can’t get here. I also got quite a lot in drugstores - I googled best US drugstore buys and got lots of ideas.

I live in Manhattan. Second the suggestion of Sephora, and also try and get yourself to a Rickey's - they have a great selection of stuff.

We don't have outlet malls, but we do have Nordstrom Rack, a few really good branches of TJ Maxx and Century 21. It's also recommend checking out any sample sales that are on - 260 5th Avenue and the Chelsea Market sample sales are a good place to start.

Have fun!

If it's your style J Crew costs a fortune in London so is worth a look in NY - I buy their workwear and jewellery. I'd go to New York to eat rather than to shop now though!!

Also recommend TK Maxx - the one on the west side near the Lincoln centre sometimes has great bags e.g. Hermes and Louis Vuitton if you're looking for an investment
