Fast-growing body hair...

My body hair grows at an alarming rate. My legs aren’t too bad, I can maybe get away with 4-5 days with no obvious stubble, my armpits are in need of shaving again within days. The worst is my, ahem, lady area. It’s a NIGHTMARE. I shave it all off (when I can be bothered) and within hours, it’s stubbly again. I’ve tried all sorts. I use a sharp razor, I’ve used razors with different amounts of razor blades on them, I shave down first, then up, maybe even across (I know I know, don’t go against the grain, but you never get a smooth finish otherwise) Using conditioner to soften the hairs first, using baby oil to soften my skin after. I can get it super soft but after 2-3 hours, it’s stubbly again.

Now, I have been to have my bikini line waxed a few times. Not brave enough for the whole she-bang. I went a few days before going on holiday once as I was told the hair wouldn’t grow back quickly and would last for the whole week, maybe longer. I was skeptical so had the wax as late as I could before jetting off but the whole area was still red raw and unsightly but I figured at least it’s not stubbly. I used some lotion thing I got off Amazon that reduces ingrown hairs and stops it growing back as quick. Cue about 4 days later, stubble.

I’m at my wits end, I just want to be able to wear a bikini on holiday without sprouting hairs or looking like I’ve got some kind of gross rash. Can anyone save me? I need a solution, I’m fed up of not looking like a Barbie doll when I’ve paid to go through the pain of someone ripping wax off my bits

I think your body hair grows SLOWLY or there's something wrong with me! My armpits will be stubbly by the end of the day, legs by the next day although the stubble on the legs is not very obvious to other people for another day. If I shaved my legs regularly they'd need to be done every other day and armpits every day.

Waxing lasts about a week. I'm told it lasts longer for people who get waxed regularly. My salon will only do it once a month so I don't really understand how waxing is a solution unless it's just for a special occasion or something.

If you have dark hair and fair skin then I HIGHLY recommend smoothskin IPL. Absolute life changer. Six months of weekly IPL sessions at home and basically no more constant hair maintenance. I still have to do my pits every few days but bikini line and legs are basically hair free now.

4-5 days on the legs? No way, mine grows in much quicker than that.

4-5 days????

If I shave my legs in the morning they're like sandpaper by bedtime.

4-5 days on legs! That's slow Grin
Philips lumea is amazing. Worked fast on bikini line. Skin lovely and smooth. No more ingrown hairs/bumps anywhere and hardly ever need to shave legs anymore.

I wish my body hair grew at the same speed as yours! I lather my leg up run the razor up and I'm sure that by the time I've done 2 or 3 runs the first section is growing back again!

Haha I kind of meant I’m not hairy for a few days. My hairs on my legs are very light so although they’re stubbly after about half a day, it’s not obvious until around day 4-5 when they are properly hairy and you can tell for sure. It’s mostly my bikini area that I have trouble with. For example, I shaved it all off last night, not a single hair left. Smooth as you like. This morning, there is jet black stubble everywhere and it is scratchy to touch and looks vile. That hair isn’t like my leg hair where the hair starts off growing back light enough to get away with it for a few days. It’s very thick and coarse and dark and so after a few hours, the regrowth is massively obvious. Hope that makes a bit more sense lol

I second the Lumea. I've only used it a couple of times - last time I shaved my armpits was two weeks ago before using the Lumea for the second time. I HAVE NO STUBBLE OR REGROWTH!! Two weeks!

MargotLovedTom1 · 04/03/2018 18:11

And you can use it on the bikini line.

olddogsnewtricks · 04/03/2018 18:14

I shaved it all off last night

That's exactly why I don't shave it all off (well, one of the reasons). It looks horrible most of the time if I do that.

I wish my regrowth was like yours!

My hair and nails grow at a crazy rate. If I shaved my legs in the morning I’d have visible stubble by 6pm. Likewise underarms. Manicures only last a couple of days before the regrowth is obvious.

After 25yrs of not exposing my legs (thanks, childhood bullying) I bought a Tria. It’s been amazing, probably work so well on me because of the very thing that mades it so hard to manage - pale skin, dark hair. I rarely see it recommended on here, interestingly, but I was attracted to it as it’s FDA approved.

Apologies for the cross posting and garbled final paragraph.

I was typing and eating Smile

I think 4-5 days is slow! I have to shave my armpits and legs daily for them to be smooth! In cold weather I leave my legs for at least 3 days but they do get so stubbly. My hair just grows so quickly - I could not stand to shave my bikini area,it would just be too uncomfortable, so a hot wax every month is my best bet. When money allows I would love to buy a one of the handheld lasers to see if they work!
