Agree. Hate both. I look ridiculous in a trench and find them v uncomfortable. I do like that pic tho, the shopkeeper trnch woman. But see, when she ties that up against a strong westerly she’ll look uncomfortable. IMO o’course.

As for kitten heels, oh crepes, my pear shape does not thank them.

Ididnthearanything · 04/03/2018 13:39

Oh cripes I meant. The crepes were for my thighs Wink

Agree Flo, trenches are not fit for purpose. Ridiculous uncomfortable things

Floisme · 04/03/2018 13:57

And yet I still want one Grin I am convinced there's one out there for me somewhere.

Ididnthearanything · 04/03/2018 14:02

Ach, bless your energy Flo. And let us know if you ever find one that vaguely nice and even a teeny bit useful!

Floisme · 04/03/2018 14:12

I will but, as I don't even suit beige, I'm almost certainly wasting my life away.

ZaZathecat · 04/03/2018 14:24

I quite like a trenchcoat. But it's irritating how they get wheeled out every Spring as if they've just been invented. Same with dressing to look like a sailor.

LTS2018 · 04/03/2018 14:40

I love both. Sometimes together!

(But I am a tall size 8)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 04/03/2018 14:46

I live in hope of finding a cotton hot pink trench coat in just the right length for a Munchkin. I suspect it will never happen.

Kitsharrington · 04/03/2018 14:47

Trench coats are a wardrobe staple..!

Kitsharrington · 04/03/2018 14:50

Kitten heels I dont Love, but don’t mind on a sock boot.

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/03/2018 14:50

I have a navy one, it’s my spring and autumn coat.

Dh does a thing where he ties the belt at the back so it’s flat. Looks nice.

rightknockered · 04/03/2018 14:51

I love my trench coat, have just got it out ready to wear in Spring rainy weather. But I can not do kitten heels. I tried some on yesterday, and no. It may be that they have to be styled a certain way, but I really can not be bothered to make effort for the sake of wearing such an uncomfortable shoe. I'd rather go straight from boots to trainers/loafers/brogues/birkies

rightknockered · 04/03/2018 14:52

Also, do not understand mules. How the hell do you keep them on your feet FFS?!

RoseWhiteTips · 04/03/2018 14:53

Kitten heels are chic.

rightknockered · 04/03/2018 14:55

Only if you stand still. Probably not great for stomping around the London underground

DameDoom · 04/03/2018 14:55

I love trench coats and it has never occurred to me that they wouldn't suit everyone until now.
What's wrong with kitten heels? I bought a pair in Jigsaw yesterday and they look fab. I suppose it's all about what suits you. Can't wear heels due to plantar fasciitis but can just about do a couple of hours in a kitten heel with my orthotics in. Ooh, the glamour.

Minus4 · 04/03/2018 14:59

I started a thread on kittens heels are back. I couldn’t believe the hate! I don’t mind them (size 8 but never considered any relation to weight/height before.)

I wouldn’t wear a trench coat although I like the look in the pic from a pp.

Piccolino2 · 04/03/2018 15:05

Aww, I love a trench coat but can never find a brilliant quality one in a good colour for me. I have a beautiful Hobbs light blue one that would be prefect if just a teeny bit brighter. I never realised until this thread that they didn’t work for everyone.

I’m also planning on buying some kitten heels. I have tiny and dainty feet so hoping they work for me.

Now I’m wondering if people will be looking at me thinking ‘urgh’! Oh well...

Gah81 · 04/03/2018 15:08

Love a good kitten heel. Am a size 8 though and 5ft7. Never thought about that making a difference but perhaps it does!

TossDaily · 04/03/2018 15:13

I like kitten heels.

Trench coats just don't work on me. I try to buy one every couple of years, but they look shit and are very uncomfortable.

TossDaily · 04/03/2018 15:14

I think cropped widelegs are a bit of a thing that fashionistas are forcing on us at the moment.

I've succumbed - but I'm not wholly convinced I don't look like a bellend.

Ironically, I think they look best with kitten heeled knee boots underneath.

Peanutbuttercups21 · 04/03/2018 15:19

How can trench coats not work for others?

They are a smart summer layer, cover a multitude of sins, any coat with a belt defines the waist ...it's all good!

expatmigrant · 04/03/2018 15:19

ellapaella that's the way i'm planning on looking in my recently aquired trench. Grin
kitten heels are a nono though

Floisme · 04/03/2018 15:20

No-one forcing me - I look marvellous in cropped widelegs, although I think we may have had this conversation before Grin

My thighs and knees are shot but my ankles are still mighty fine, if I do say so myself.

Just waiting for spring as cannot get them to look right with boots.

halfwitpicker · 04/03/2018 15:21

I wear trench coats whenever I'm able. I think I look OK.
