Can anybody recommend a great monthly beauty box? Or are they full of products you wouldn't really use?

Are you in the UK, OP? If so, Birchbox is the best one, I think. Got lots of good pointers for products I use all the time and the samples were good to take away for weekends.

MotherofTerriers · 28/02/2018 15:21

I like the latest in beauty ones because you can choose the products to go in the box yourself and don't have to sign up for a box every month - although its cheaper if you do

I have the look fantastic one after I loved the advent calendar and I haven't been disappointed yet. Good mix of products, some things I've used before and some which I now would buy again. Only thing is I wouldn't have it for a whole year the companies they've sent so far have been similar to the calendar and I wouldn't want it to get samey it's so nice to get some thing exciting in the post for once!

notapizzaeater · 28/02/2018 15:50

Ooh, I've just cancelled my Birchbox as I kept getting stuff I wouldn't / didn't use but miss my monthly fix

Klobuchar · 28/02/2018 15:56

I tried a few of them and found Birchbox the best, subscribed for about a year and a half before stopping when I realised I had tons of samples.

In the US, the Walmart one is just BRILLIANT. Actual products that you will use that don’t cost the earth full-size. And only $5.

Frombothsidesnow · 07/03/2018 17:02

Has anyone tried Glossybox?

And Paperbox, if I had the LookFantastic calendar last Christmas, are the products similar to that, or do you mean that there'd be no surprises left next Christmas?

Paperdove87 · 08/03/2018 00:08

@Frombothsidesnow the products are different but some of the brands are the same as the last advent calendar. Eg omorovicsa, elemis, caudalie but some really nice products. Definitely some different things to the calendar and some bits I've enjoyed trying that I wouldn't have bought.

Frombothsidesnow · 08/03/2018 09:23

Thanks. And sorry for getting your name wrong. At least it's obvious why!

Loonoon · 08/03/2018 12:59

I have had Glossybox and Birchbox. Also the QVC Tili one. They are fun but at best I only use 2/3 items from each box so there is a lot of waste. As someone upthread said, you end up with boxes of unwanted samples

LanguidLobster · 08/03/2018 14:05

I just got LF March box through this morning, out of the products:

Omorovicza moisturiser looks lovely
Skimono foot mask looks great but I have a relative with dodgy feet so will reluctantly pass that on!
Renu flash mask looks great

I don't want the brush or eyeshadows.

They can be a bit hit or miss but I enjoy them and there's always something you can use which recuperates the box cost.

LanguidLobster · 08/03/2018 14:07

Oh and there's a lip plump as well which I've tried already, very good

grownup2 · 08/03/2018 15:38

I too have had enough of random samples but I love a cheering beauty parcel. You might want to look at allboxedupco.myshopwired.com and maybe register for emails - for a changing selection of boxes. Most have contents listed but there are regular mystery boxes. They have lots of Parks candles at the moment but it's usually mainly beauty products. The website isn't slick and delivery can be slow but the brands and value are excellent for mainly full sized products.
First post from a long time lurker but no connection to the company.

StewPots · 08/03/2018 15:44

I really enjoyed getting my Birchbox every month but after nearly a year and a half I realised I was getting the same stuff just different brands (for example I still have 3 unopened liquid eyeliners!).

I may restart with them next year but if something else sounds appealing then I'll give it a go. I do really recommend them though.

Springtrolls · 08/03/2018 15:49

I use Birchbox. I think we've been lucky (dd's also subscribe) as we use everything.

If any of you've had it, the no oil oil is great when your hair needs a bit of a wash. Just apply on the ends, tie back and your hair smells lush.

SilverHairedCat · 08/03/2018 15:53

I cancelled my Birchbox last month, after finding the products were often absolutely rubbish. As for the stickers in the last box.... I'm in my 30s not a schoolgirl.

I'll have a look at some of these suggestions, thanks.

FrolickingForklift · 08/03/2018 15:57

I almost cancelled Birchbox last month, waiting for this months box to see if there's anything worth keeping. Few of the things lately I've had free with a magazine (well rather I bought the mag to get the 'free' item) so didn't need it anyway. Not sure it really offers great value, in my first 6 boxes I've kept using maybe 3 things
