Best vampy red lipstick?

I've been venturing into darker/deeper colours of lipstick of late and have a few lovely reds in my collection. I'm struggling to find a darker red/burgundy shade to suit me though. The ones I've tried recently are all either too purple or too brown in tone. I'd really like a true deep red. I'm naturally very pale, just in case that would affect any recommendations.

The first pic here is the sort of thing I'm after. Any suggestions, particularly if easy to obtain/drugstore versions as I spend quite enough on my makeup habit, would be very gratefully received.

Mac has a great range, this one is a good, proper, red.

If you are fair ( cool toned) you’ll neeed a (blue toned) red lipstick!
No orange-y shades.

omBreROSE · 26/02/2018 21:45

I think Bourjois are quite good normally.

TheCunkOfPhilomena · 26/02/2018 22:00

This is the one I wear and although it's matte it's not too dry.

64BooLane · 26/02/2018 22:35

I like this one a lot (Rouge Dior in “Sophisticated Matte”). It wears well and I don’t find it drying. Not sure it’s burgundy enough to match what you’re after though?

Thanks everyone great to see the recommendations. I do have Russian red and I really like the colour but it's definitely a brighter red than I'm thinking of for this look. It's a deep red wine type of colour I'm after, without straying too far into purple territory. More the stain a red wine leaves behind, than the actual colour of red wine, if you can picture that! The picture in my link is pretty much exactly what I'm after but I can't seem to find anything that comes up that colour on me....

I had a look at the bourjois range and couldn't see anything quite like it but it was a limited enough selection so I might try one of the larger boots and have a good rummage. I can find true reds and blue reds and dark berries but nothing on the vampy red spectrum has I managed to turn up thus far.

That rouge Dior does look promising though!

Nars audacious in Charlotte is lovely. Great deep red and I love the formulation. I'm pale and cool toned too.

mimiasovitch · 27/02/2018 09:58

Cabernet blend by Milani is also good - more winey and deep. It's a drugstore brand in the US, but I've bought a few of the lipsticks on Amazon.

Catinthebath · 27/02/2018 10:00

ombrerose I’ve always stuck to that formula but the woman at the Dior counter got me to try rouge door trafalgar which is orangey and i get comments on how flattering it is every time I wear it. I have quite bright blue eyes so I think it’s that combo people notice.

MeganChips · 27/02/2018 10:02

How about Mac Diva? This is my go to going out lipstick.

I’m also pale and cool toned and it works well on me.

Globetrotter100 · 27/02/2018 10:07

mimiasovitch I also love nars Charlotte...am pale neutral skin tone. Makes my teeth (which are already very white) look even whiter.

LadyGlitterSparkl · 27/02/2018 10:19

I have just recently purchased fenty stunna lip paint, check out reviews it is supposed to suit everyone

omBreROSE · 27/02/2018 10:58

cat
Interesting...
Good to know actually, as it opens up a whole bunch of other shades!
My eyes are green/blue. :)

ThatEscalatedQuickly · 27/02/2018 14:36

Busy googling all these suggestions many thanks. A friend has also recommended Nars Bette so I'll check that one out too.

On the orange reds I do have one - Nars Manhunt which I actually think does suit me. Pale skin, dark hair, green eyes. It's described as a 'poppy red' but on me at least it's definitely more on the orange spectrum. I really like it though.

Revlon Bombshell Red?

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 27/02/2018 15:55

Tom Ford Cherry Lush is a vampy red.

I do think a campy red ought to be blue red.
