Soon to have baby no three. I will have a nappy bag for a while. But I really would decent crossbody bag that I can use all the time - It needs to be a decent size that I can fit my purse, phone, makeup, and maybe a couple of nappies and wipes, not himoingous though. I have one that was a gift I started picking up way more than my proper handbag as it’s so handy for days out etc with the kids. I need to have my hands free. But it’s not very stylish ( a bits cath kidson). I don’t like satchels as end up over filling and then can’t fasten them.
Any ideas?

Why not put 'crossbody bag' in search in Debenhams, John Lewis, Asos etc? Otherwise you'll have posters coming up with suggestions one by one when you could see a huge group of them all in one go!

Have you looked at the Jujube Hobobe bags? They are crossbody but don't look ver much like changing bags.

Bodicea · 26/02/2018 22:32

Well obviously I can do that lilac but then the the style and beauty readers tend to come up with a few more obscure, unique ideas that might not come up that way.

are you near a TKMaxx, they usually have a good selection.

Bodicea · 26/02/2018 22:36

JUst to clarify. Am not after a nappy bag. I have a decent storksack one. I only tend to use it for the first 6 months or so before reverting to a medium sized handbag.

How much are you looking to spend? I avoid anything but leather as I'm tough on my bags and synthetic doesn't wear well here

I abuse my Fossil bags and they still look great. eBay is your friend if budget doesn't stretch to new

Coach are lovely but sale has just finished - the Scout hobo was a steal at Christmas

A friend has a Clarks leather bag that has done well

I do love to find things on this section but an idea of budget, colours, style (minimalist/slouch/chic/boho/structured/detailed) would be helpful too. If you're looking for chic, a neutral shade is best - what appeals to you the most out of the following: black/tan/beige/navy/grey?

LilacClouds · 26/02/2018 22:59

Chish - I have many, many crossbodies and find that they don't wear like other bags, mainly because they never make it to the floor Smile and also because crossbodies generally tend to be structured, so they are not prone to sagging (and therefore wear) as much as soft leather shoulder or tote bags (unless structured, but then the wear tends to be on the bottom corners as they meet the floor so often).

I have both leather and synthetic and although I prefer leather as a material, it does not last particularly longer in a cross body than a good synthetic. So, I wouldn't rule out synthetic for a crossbody on the basis of wear.

Some good options on Yoshi www.yoshi.co.uk/collections/leather-across-body-bags

ChishandFips33 · 27/02/2018 04:39

Great point Lilac.

On reflection my bags are used for work not leisure so are on/off, in car/out, on floor, etc so the manhandling shows in time.

I don't get out enough to use my 'weekend' bags much - they will last forever!

Another thread has mentioned Osprey - and TKMaxx

Nicky James do great crossbody bags

Bodicea · 27/02/2018 09:25

I do like a tan leather bag. But a colour would be a possibility if I loved it. Want something decent quality- preferable leather. Prob would spend up to £300. It’s my birthday in July so looking for ideas to send to dh on a wish list. If there are no deals to be had could wait as I will be using the nappy bag for a bit.

Demellier has some lovely crossbody bags in different colours, they're beautiful :)

Peopleplease · 27/02/2018 13:29

I really fancy this Fossil one for exactly the same reasons.

LilacClouds · 27/02/2018 15:46

How about a coach prairie? They have a cross body strap but also grab handles, look smart but not too formal and you can fit a decent amount in. Could definitely get nappies, wipes & other bits and bobs in there. If you shop around there’s different colours in some sales. They did one in a colour called fog which is a taupe, would go with most outfits. Don’t know if you can still get that particular colour though but something like that might be good.
