Black jeans that dont fade

TimeForMy10thCuppa · 26/02/2018 08:23

I wear black skinny jeans 6 days of the week. Currently wearing the primark super highwaisted ones. I have noticed they fade after 3 washes mostly around the edges. Im buying a new pair every few weeks, because they fade and because im trying to shift a few extra lbs. Can anyone suggest any that dont fade so quick? I dont have a huge budget and would need 2 pairs atleast. I usually have them on from 7am to about 8pm. Thanks in advance.

Do you wash them inside out? Do you use washing powder that does not contain optical brighteners?

I wear Primark skinnies and they look good for a fair few months.

Failing that, perhaps a machine dye of all your faded pairs?

I buy Asda black skinnies and wash them inside out on a 30 degree wash with similar colours and they haven't faded

iBiscuit · 26/02/2018 08:53

Seconding Asda black skinnies, the ones that come in S, M, L rather than dress sizes. I think they're quite generous on the sizing - I'm thrilled to fit nicely into a small, which is allegedly 10-12. I am not a 10 in anything else Grin

They're not terribly high waisted though, which is a shame.

My Karen Millen ones haven't faded at all. I do wash them inside out though. I only buy KM in the sale though at £35 as opposed to £98. All KM jeans go quickly in to sale price.
Also JCrew haven't faded in the sale at around £30.

Thank you all for the replies. I wash inside out with other blacks on a 40. Will check the washing power for the optical brightners. Will also try to pop to asda and try some from there. All else fails i will machine dye them all. Thanks again.

Wallis black Harper ones are amazing and don't fade at all. I have had mine for 2 + years and they get washed at least once a week and still look new.

acornsandnuts · 26/02/2018 09:19

I buy a washing machine dylon black dye and bung all our black jeans in every few months.

HuskyMcClusky · 26/02/2018 09:22

Use a washing liquid specially formulated for black clothes, like Radiant Black Wash, in cold water.

They all fade, some a bit faster than others, but they all fade.

Dylon black dye is your only man. Dyeing black jeans black is a most marvellously satisfying activity. They come out better than new!

PNGirl · 26/02/2018 10:27

My Topshop Jamie are over 2 years old and haven't faded at all.

sportyfool · 26/02/2018 10:39

All washing powders contain bleach . Wash them with liquid colour detergent and they will be fine . It's not the jeans it's the detergent.

youcantelleverybody · 26/02/2018 12:42

My Topshop Joni's are very fade-resistant but when they do start to eventually go I use Dylon in the machine. Good as new for £6.

booellesmum · 26/02/2018 12:44

DD lives in River Island black leggings. Some are several years old and no fading.
I do use colour liquid though.

booellesmum · 26/02/2018 12:45

Jeggings - stupid autocorrect!

leghoul · 26/02/2018 14:22

My whistles black jeans have not faded at all (£85 I think, have lasted such a long time and properly black)

But would also second changing your washing powder

SpiritedLondon · 26/02/2018 18:16

Just use Dye them - no need to keep buying new pairs.

TimeForMy10thCuppa · 26/02/2018 19:43

I think i will moat deffinately need to buy atleast 2 new pairs as my current sized ones are getting a bit loose, but once i go down a size i will try machine dye. Infact i could try that on the ones have at the minute and pass them onto my mum. Thank you.

Time do try on the jeans before you buy at ASDA, unless you're prepared to go back and change them. There sizes are weird.

iBiscuit · 26/02/2018 20:01

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/02/2018 20:05

My Joules ones haven't faded yet. M&S Autograph ones fade badly, which is annoying as theirs fit me really well.

IJustLostTheGame · 26/02/2018 21:16

I use dylon machine dye on mine. One packet does 5 pairs of jeans easily.
They come out like new
