Hi all ,
I'm a dress wearer , I own many and stoped buying trousers years ago because I find it so difficult to find ones that fit.

I want to buy a pair or two but am short , pear shaped and have a bit of a mum tum. Issues I have are leg length and waist being too loose.

Does anyone have any recommendations and can also tell me about new styles. The last I bought some it was skinny or straight only.

Thank you.

Can I ask a question about dresses too? What do you do in the height of summer? I’m as happy as Larry in dresses, tights and cardigans but absolutely cannot bear my legs sticking together in the summer. Any ideas?

A spray of deodorant between the legs! Not massively dignified but it works.

@Deux I think the issue I have with m and s is that my mum buys her trousers from there and she's 30 years older than me. I know it's stupid to let that bother me but I guess I just get cross that 'younger' shops don't always cater for those with an arse.

I know what you mean. I didn’t realise they were from the classic collection till after I bought them as they were merchandised with a bunch of other ‘fashinable’ trousers. I also have a problem of fairly chunky calves and often when tapered style trousers fit on the waist and hips they get stuck on my calves.

Another fit option to look for in jeans is girlfriend fit eg Sainsbury’s do them.

Have found a couple of skater style dresses on DP. Thanks for the heads up! What sort of cardigan and shoes do you put with them?

MagicFajita · 23/02/2018 16:06

Hi @Cinnamus , I know it sounds very boring but normally an Oasis crew cardi and some ankle boots.

I've been impressed with the styles at Next recently. The wide legs are actually wide leg! I always have to have trousers taken up so I take that into consideration when I trousers.

When I (rarely) find jeans that fit everywhere apart from my waist I alter the waist myself. www.sumoftheirstories.com/blog2014/04/how-to-insert-elastic-into-jeans.html

My last pair of jeans fitted well... after I'd taken them up and altered the waist!

Sigh... to be able to wear off the peg trousers.

I take up jeans myself as I don't like how taylors do it but take trousers to the taylors as it's just easier.

I'm
V similar height and shape as you - I have a great pair of elasticated waist trousers from hush - sound a bit yuk but they are great.

I also recently got some from M&S. they were about £26, tapered with a little turn up, also elasticated waist, and I bloody love them. I'm going back tomorrow for another pair so I'll come back with proper details

Mrsmaudwatts · 24/02/2018 00:27

My calves are massive by the way! Huge!

MagicFajita · 24/02/2018 10:36

Thank you for all suggestions, m and s tapered trousers sound good.

Also thanks for reminding me about alterations , I had lovely pair of French connection trousers years ago that I had taken up.

I probably won't buy from Hush as I'm a bit horrified at the pricing!
