Where to look for lovely dress

I have a big birthday party coming up (DH!) and want to treat myself to a nice dress.

All the weddings etc are all over in our life (for now) so I haven't bought anything that dressy for some time. Previously I have bought them from Reiss, Topshop, Ted Baker and ASOS but I feel I need something more special...have thought about hiring but not sure where to look.

I am mid thirties, in reasonable shape but don't want really short or too revealing (knee length ish is fine) also HAVE to wear a bra these days. Just want something a bit interesting! Size 8/10.

I quite like a vintage / french / slightly boho vibe rather than Karen Millen type look (by that I mean super figure hugging which I am sure it isn't all!)

But I can't find anything I like there. Budget approx £250 but a bit of room in that!

I have two Roberto Cavalli knee length dresses I get out for special occasions. I love his stuff as the colours are so rich - one is floral pattern and one is a rich blue snakeskin print, very rock chic! I feel dead sexy in them and they are both long sleeved so don't reveal too much. Both were ebay bargains around the £100 mark so they don't need to be massively expensive.

Have a look at Adrianna Papell. I git a beautiful swishy eveningwear jumpsuit recently. They have cocktail dress style things too.
