Getting a haircut today

On a mission to improve my hair's current state, I've booked in for a trim, this afternoon. It's kind of buggered since being bleached slightly for an ombre effect a few wells ago.

Anyway, it's about just below shoulder length, not necessarily thick, but lots of it. It's very fragile around the bottom ends, where I've had it lightened more. It's quite dry/split mid lengths. I've got quite a round, full face.

I've decided on having some layers in, but I don't want to end up with old fashioned 'feathered' layers or a 'rachel' cut iukwim?

I quite like these layered cuts. what I don't want to end up with is the dreaded Rachel or anything similar,, like the one where it flicks out at the bottom! what do I ask my stylist for to make sure I don't!

I'm doing the exact same thing, although mine is just up to my shoulders. My appointment is at three.

I am seriously considering getting all of the blonde cut off and starting again. These are the photos I am taking but with strict instructions not to have it like posh spice in the 90s.

Don't know what to do about the colour though.

I think you need to keep the layers very long. The first picture could end up a bit rod stewert.

Those look really nice, DH would have a shit fit if I had mine cut that short though as it would cut most of my ombre off that I had done 3 weeks ago, so £60 gone down the drain! He's already bearing teeth cos I'm going for a trim! I just need something, it's totally fried, but I need to keep some length & I don't want it to end up 'mumsy' either! Lord knows what I'll do about the colour, it's a total mish mash of colours at the moment!

I'm happy enough with mine - it's not as layered as the photos - I showed my hairdressers the pics & because I didn't want to have 'face framing layers' or my sides 'shaping' or taking shorter she couldn't cut too short a layers into my hair without jeopardising too much of the length. I've had about an inch of the length & about an inch to an inch & a half off my layers. It now looks like I've had a decent trim/cut & she's sorted out my fringe. At least it doesn't look like a 'rachel.

Mulberrysilk - I didn't think about that - I'm so glad I've not ended up with a Rod Stewart cut 😂!

Ha ha, just noticed on the Jennifer Aniston pic, where it states that her hairdresser was 'stoned' when he cut her hair !!!

I've heard good things too about the Elasticizer Mulberrysilk, only i can't spend another penny on my hair for at least another 6 mths, ive been banned! Oh the irony - i purchased that bloody new (think its new) shampoo from Elvive - that dream lengths with the heat 'no haircuts' cream as well yesterday - it did bugger all, certainly didn't make me feel like i didn't need a haircut, quite the opposite! my hair must be truly buggered! had really good reviews as well...

It’s ok so far but you never know until you wash it yourself what it looks like!

Have you tried coconut oil on your hair? I use it on my dc as they have curly hair and now I do it every couple of weeks on my own hair. I sleep with it on and then shampoo and condition as normal in the morning.

Can't say I have tried coconut oil, heard good stuff about it though, maybe something else to try. Must admit I did have about a nano-second urge to get DH's clippers out last night & just shave the lot off! But I've got such a round shaped head, it really would be like a football with a face!

I only did my roots about two weeks ago with a permanent dye & it's almost washed out already! So I've got what looks like lighter brown mixed with grey roots (about 2'') then a band of med brown around the crown/top bit and down the sides a bit, then like a golden/light brown/slightly yellow colour ombre. Depends what light I'm under as well, overall can look quite a warm colour, like gingery. I suppose if I was to attempt to sort out the colour, I'd slap a nice semi permanent medium golden brown on it all & be done with it, but that won't even touch my roots & would probably only make my already dark bits darker. And fry my hair even more.
