Hair clips, pins, barrettes with proper grip

DD is 10 YO and I have never managed to find any hair slides, pins, clips, barrettes, that don't slide off her hair. Is there anything you'd recommend? Latest haircut went a bit wrong and front locks have been chopped way too short and I am going to need to put it back for school in a way that will stay. Headbands do not stay either!
