I'm having highlights for the first time..

Next week and I'm scared.
I've got dark brown hair with masses of grey and I've been box dyeing it every 4 weeks or so at home.
It looks dreadful, so fake and the grey stripe just pushes through.
After a chat with a hairdresser I'm some how booked in next Wednesday morning for a full head tint and ash highlights to conceal and blend the grey!!!
What will it look like?
Will it be a shock?
Will it even work?
Are highlights high maintenance?
Any advice please?

Do you want ash highlights? You could have copper or caramel with dark brown.

Sounds like it will be nice- although there is mai renege and regular root tinting required. Depends if you have the time and funds to keep going every 6-8 weeks. I always feel better having it done though!
