Cross body bags-daytime

Can anyone please point me towards a nice medium sized cross body handbag for weekends/daytimes? I've had fat face ones before that haven't lasted that well and my primarni one (that I didn't expect to last)that cost me £6 about 3 years ago has just broken! I would like a nicer one that will hopefully last. Thanks.

I got given the Kipling Alvar as a present almost a year ago and have been using it daily since then (www.kipling.com/uk-en/handbags/type/all-bags/alvar-e4a3a4-k13335e3100-999.html - don’t let the price put you off, my mum bought me a lovely purple one off Amazon and it cost half the Kipling site RRP).

It’s the best handbag I’ve ever owned. Still looks brand new. Loads of zippable pockets (internal and external) to keep things separate and I keep one of the two main pockets permanently empty as it fits my iPad in it if I need to chuck it in before I head out.

Wipes clean, isn’t heavy before you put anything in it (the problem with my handbag before this) and just brilliant. I love it. It’s like a Tardis - my DH was agog at everything I pulled out of it when I went to get my umbrella out.

I'm a fan of Fossil - I have a couple from their Maddox range. Lovely soft leather with some structure

I often pick them up from eBay for a good price

myusernameisnotmyusername · 21/02/2018 21:13

Thank you. The joules one is more what I'm looking for but I like them all.

Has anyone found a cross body bag in a pine green / dark emerald or a deep, sort of Cadburys purple? I love the look of the Kipling one, but I’m not sure the green is dark enough for me, so I’m on the look out for something similar but in one of those colours.

Lanclain · 21/02/2018 22:51

There's a dark green fossil bag on ebay

MsHarry · 23/02/2018 15:02

Bought a lovely one in House of Fraser. Was £90 though(real leather) but worth it.They had a good selection.

MsHarry · 23/02/2018 15:02

Green House of Fraser had some olive green leather bags.

I buy White Stuff suede and non suede bags including cross body bags. I have them from years ago and slowly building a collection. My latest one is an Apple 🍏 green suede one .

OlafLovesAnna · 23/02/2018 18:04

I have this one in grey and it's lovely. Nice and neat, not heavy but I can fit quite a bit in it.

Zatchels have nice saddle bags & you can get a longer length strap to wear cross body. I think they’ve got a Cadbury purple version too!

Lizthefizzy · 23/02/2018 18:18

Was going to say Zatchels. I know not everyone likes them but I've got a couple and I'm really happy with them.

CoconutAmericano · 23/02/2018 20:29

The Zatcgel satchels - do they have press studs does anyone know or do you have to unbuckle it everytime you want to open it?

WrenDouglas · 23/02/2018 22:02

You can get press stud fastening as an extra option, it’s a couple of quid extra.

Lizthefizzy · 23/02/2018 22:32

You can get buckle up ones or ones that look like buckles but are poppers. They cost a little more.

If you are near York the shop is having a big sample sale tomorrow apparently.

Lizthefizzy · 23/02/2018 22:35

.

Lizthefizzy · 23/02/2018 22:37

Try again with the pic.

The poppers look like normal buckles on the front.

The bag do have an annoying "Zatchels" label on the front but I just cut that off.

Would second Kipling bags. Lightweight, machine washable and cleverly designed. I've got 3 now!

CoconutAmericano · 24/02/2018 07:30

Thank you lizthefizzy. Much handier!

ferriswheel · 24/02/2018 07:35

Sainsbury's have nice bags.

Nix32 · 24/02/2018 07:37

Brakeburn do some great bags. www.brakeburn.com/collections/womens-bags?page=2 My cross body one is like a tardis - fits in loads.

GreenBook · 25/02/2018 09:43

MsHarry and leccybill

Thanks! I didn’t go for those, but they led me on to one I really like.

PetiteMarseillaise · 25/02/2018 11:26

I have a Longchamp Pliage crossbody bag. I find it's a great size, sturdy strap and really useful. If it's anything like my other Pliage bags, it should last years.

spudfield · 25/02/2018 11:47

On a recommendation from here I got a leather cross-body bag from www.gusti-leather.co.uk It was not at all expensive and has got me loads of compliments
