Can I expect more from the lumea?

I've been using my Philips lumea for about four months now, on legs and under arms. Mostly fortnightly except at Christmas where I missed one, so left it a month. I've noticed that the hair on my legs is much patchier, but the hairs that remain still seem as thick and long as before. One armpit is probably 50% hair free but the other one only has a couple of small hairless patches. Am I doing it wrong? Should I do it more than fortnightly? Eventually will it get all the hairs? I want to do my face as well but am extremely reluctant to start shaving for it if in the end the lumea doesn't work for me. Any advice would be great, thank you!

Don't shave your face! Just wax it and then zap. I can't use it on my armpits as it hurts but the face is working.

Armpits didn't change at all for me. Legs and bikini do if used frequently. Must get back to using it in time for summer!

Although it says not to use it any more than fortnightly most people seem to use it weekly to start with, so maybe try that for a month and see if it speeds things up. You could also try going up a level in intensity (if you're not already at 5).

OK, will give weekly a shot for a while and see. bobbin I thought you had a shave first, as if you wax the root won't be there so nothing for the light to zap? Interesting how it seems to work differently on different parts of the body!

It says you can do any, but...the risk of cutting yourself shaving and not being able to use it!

Madonnasmum · 18/02/2018 17:51

I used weekly on my chin and it really reduced them. I zapped, waited a day then plucked. I couldn't live with stubble. What hair is left if finer and if I focused would probably go.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 18/02/2018 17:59

If you wax then it won't work on the follicles of the hairs that you waxed that day, but the hair keeps growing so within a couple of days there should be enough new hair growing in the follicle to heat up with the laser and damage the follicle. If you both wax regularly and use the Lumea regularly then you should catch all the follicles enough times eventually.

Right, will up it to weekly from now on and will brave the tache soon! Thanks all

Oh also, how do people do their legs??? I go up and down in lines but obviously a) it's hard to remember exactly where you've done and b) some bits are wider than others so I must be leaving gaps! Argh I didn't think this would be such an intellectual challenge Grin

I don't worry too much about leaving gaps (I don't do my legs, but I do my arms as I appear to be part gorilla, or maybe I'm a hairy-handed trucker), you'll probably leave different gaps the next time. It also doesn't harm you to overlap a bit if you need to. I seem to remember something in the manual about using a white eyeliner pencil to mark straight guidelines on legs, but it honestly seems too much of a faff to me.

Thanks black that's really helpful. Might draw a start line so that I at least can remember where to finish! 😁
