Jeans for the chunky & short legged?

I've been wearing bootcut (Sainsbury's) for a few years and hemming them, but they only stock slim bootleg now which make me look like two sausages - same with jeggings and slim fit.

Straight leg look better, but I have to increase the waist size which doesn't look great.

I'm slowly realising that when these last few pairs die (chub rub) that I'll have to brave proper shops to find a pair. Ideally, I need to start looking now so that I'm not left without any.

What should I look for and where should I look? Budget is variable - if they're going to last then I don't mind paying, but cheaper would be better!

I am 5'5" but generally have to buy jeans from the petite range as I have a long torso and chunky short legs. My most flattering jeans were Topshop Boutique boyfriend jeans, I have three pairs in different colours. They are cut nicely on the waist and the legs are the perfect width for a chunkier leg, Zara and Gap boyfriend jeans looked like skinnies on me. Sadly I've somehow put on a stone and while I can still get them on they are no longer comfortable to sit down in as they are heavy 100% cotton with no stretch. They are generously sized though, mine are a six and I'm definitely a size ten at the moment, so take a size down from your usual I'd say.

Levi's and other main jean brands will alter lengths for you. I am as you described and got some Levi's straight legged jeans shortened to fit me. Best I've had for ages.

M&S per una Straight jeans: high waisted enough to control my
Pot Belly & balance out my upper thighs. They come in a short length too. The current range seems to have sparkly bits on the pockets,which I dislike.

Good suggestions. I'm wary of Levi's - I have a mental image of me looking like mutton dressed as lamb! Is it just in store they offer this or through the concessions/online too?
