Just spent a bloody fortune on supplements after watching Trinny!

Have just watched a live Trinny video with the owner of Victoria Health. It was all about the menopause. It ended with me dropping >£100 on supplements 😬 One for mood and anxiety, one for hot flushes, one for sleep, one for thinning hair and one for skin. I hate taking tablets but I'm going to force myself to take these. I need a kick up the bum and some help in feeling better about me/menopause symptoms/life in general. Fingers crossed hey! Will report back in a couple of weeks.

Does trinny take them ?

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 18/02/2018 11:40

What were the supplements recommended (I have thin hair, but I always have so I'm not sure whether a supplement would help)? Will you come back in six weeks and let us know whether they've made a difference?

Fosterdog123 · 18/02/2018 11:54

I think Trinny takes everything under the sun!!

She also has extensions, so...

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 18/02/2018 12:00

She's been open about that on her videos.

Trinny I is very pen about wearing hair pieces. I'm VERY cynical about her but I didn't buy the supplements cos of her. The guy was incredibly knowledgable about the menopause and really knew his stuff, so it was his endorsement rather than hers that made me buy.

Well god she has sooo much energy that whatever she's taking must be doing something! Let us know how you get on - what exactly did you buy?

Fosterdog123 · 18/02/2018 16:06

I bought sage for hot flushes, cherry for sleeping, biotin for hair, hylauronic acid for skin and magnolia rhodiola for low mood/anxiety.

Vitamin D is also worth taking its one of the few supplements that works really well for me.

10thingsIhateAboutTheDailyMail · 18/02/2018 16:35

Being very rich also helps no end Wink

MrsPestilence · 18/02/2018 16:37

Trinny does HRT, because it works.

Chooseyourhard · 20/02/2018 08:51

Hi do you have a link? I've tried googling but can't find anything.

Mulberrysilk · 20/02/2018 08:54

Oh please do come back with an update.

PollyPerky · 20/02/2018 10:16

TBH if you are suffering with bad menopausal symptoms you'd be better off on HRT and using your money to see a Harley St gynae who knows what they are talking about with menopause.

SporkInTheToaster · 20/02/2018 10:27

So Trinny (who knows nothing about this stuff and can’t even pronounce half the stuff she uses/takes) did a video with a woman from a site which SELLS the products? It was a big advert.

Fosterdog123 · 20/02/2018 10:48

It was one big advert, you're right. I didn't swallow it all at face value though.

Here's the link to the video and list of products. Watch the video and make your own mind up. Aside from anything else, the guy is very knowledgeable.

Still waiting for it all to arrive yet. Defo don't want hrt so will go down this route instead.

As far as I can recall, Trinny uses HRT.

There is not much evidence that supplements can help meno symptoms; mostly it's the placebo effect (which can be as high as 40%) or women's symptoms come and go during peri anyway.

The Royal College of Gynaecologists has a patient leaflet on the alternatives to HRT and it's based on serious science.

Cherry has been seen to help sleep in some people but not especially related to menopause.

You may as well eat a healthy diet and if you are having bad hot flushes, dry skin and hair issues, use HRT because it works and is safe.

spiney · 20/02/2018 13:13

I like Trinny. She is positive, upbeat and it seems to me, kind. She is never paid by anybody. And always says if she has been sent a product rather than bought it.

She is totally open about what she has done ( masses ). As much as you can 'trust' anyone or anything these days #paid #gift # sponsored # ad. It's as good an advert as any other.

You pays your money you takes your choice.

PerfumeIsAMessage · 20/02/2018 14:59

She does it for free?

Gosh.

Did Victoria Health tell you to buy 548 different Ordinary products as well? That tends to be their MO.

ReluctantlyRedundant101 · 20/02/2018 19:18

Watching with interest!
I was also thinking of investing in Magnolia Rhodalia

Sammysquiz · 20/02/2018 19:28

Be careful with Biotin - I bought it to help with my weak nails and it gave me huge spots on my face. I hadn’t had a spot for years, but by god these were shockers. After googling it, I found this is a very common side-effect, so don’t start taking them right before you have a hot date or whatever, just in case Grin

Fosterdog123 · 20/02/2018 19:35

I'll watch out for the spots. Last thing I need is to get them back when my skin seems to have finally settled down. No chance of a hot date though, so no issues there!
