5yo brunette DD wants pink hair... how?

DD has asked to have pink hair over the summer holidays. She’s got brown hair with natural blonde streaks. Is there any way of doing this that doesn’t require bleaching first (I’m not prepared to do that).

For me I think the things we do to modify our appearance can either be war paint (symbolising the belonging to a tribe by changing your appearance in a way that is intended to move away from a natural look) or sexualising (making yourself sexually attractive by enhancing features that are considered youthful or fertile).

So for me the following are fine for holidays: facepaints, artificial hair colour, temporary tattoos, and brightly coloured nail polish.

The following are not fine: makeup, 'natural' coloured hair dye, sexualised clothing.

When my kids are teenagers if they want to wear makeup (I don't) then I will encourage it to be something for going out, not for everyday. I hate the idea that girls and women feel like they need to modify their appearance to be acceptable but I don't think brightly coloured hair chalks fall into that category at all, in fact I think that allowing our daughters to embrace the 'warpaint' aspect of changing their appearance inculcates them against the 'sexualisation' side of it.

Be careful with the temporary hair colour sprays- they can make the hair very tangly. Not sure if chalks are the same? Maybe try a small section first to see how she copes with it

No way! I can't believe you are considering dying it. I had those mascara hair pens when I was a child and that was sufficient.
