Getting married outside and need comfortable shoes

Hi folks

I need a bit of wedding help. I'm getting married in May in a festival-style affair outdoors. It's pretty rustic terrain and a reception in a marquee on grass. I've got an amazing floor length Alice Temperley dress, but need some comfortable shoes to go with it. Preferably not too high heels; I really don't want painful feet or not to be able to walk properly. Don't have to be white - my dress is a bit unconventional and is very pale blush silk with bright embroidered flowers on so could get away with a bright shoe.
Help!! I'm so crap at shopping and want some shoes that do justice to my lovely dress!

Have a look at Irregular Choice. Amazing shoes, heels from flats to mid to skyscraper.

Quodlibet · 12/02/2018 21:29

Oh wow there are some amazing ones on there. I think I need something plain though (should have said), and a lot of the Irregular Choice ones are quite busy.

Have a look at davidsbridal.com

They do wedges in various styles.
I find wedges most comfortable. Hate heels.

I have a pair of wedges I have run for a bus with. Love them!

They're not all too bad:

I'd look at low wedges if you're going to be on grass at all

nothingwittyhere · 13/02/2018 18:10

Try Think! shoes, they have some quirkier ones that should be good on grass. Expensive but good quality.

We went casual :) They have the date on the heel too

I'd be tempered to go with some sort of flat sandal I think...

Kitsharrington · 14/02/2018 07:33

Have you thoughts of clogs? I think it’s quite a pretty look for an outdoor festival-style wedding.

I'd go for some fitflop shoes. I have plantar fasciitis and I can wear them all day with a fraction of the pain of normal shoes.

SilverHairedCat · 14/02/2018 07:48

I had plain white and brown leather Clarks sandals. Not very attractive though, but I'd sprained my ankle and couldn't walk in much else!

Do you want funky, plain or practical?

dantdmistedious · 14/02/2018 07:50

I'd be be going for flat sparkly sandals or if you're on grass maybe even no shoes? But in general I hate wearing shoes! Is you dress floor length? If it's wet you may need a wedge so it doesn't end up dragging.

specialsubject · 14/02/2018 10:09

I would say any bride ( or indeed every person) wants comfortable shoes..

If the dress is floor length wear trainers. No one can see.

SandAndSea · 14/02/2018 10:16

DocMartens?

SandAndSea · 14/02/2018 10:18

@AnotherOriginalUsername - I love those! Please can I have the link for them? Many thanks.

Luckingfovely · 14/02/2018 10:19

There are some lovely handmade ones on Etsy - you might like the bright green sparkly ones if they match a colour in your dress?

Luckingfovely · 14/02/2018 10:20

If you share a pic of the dress might be easier to make suggestions?

scaredofthecity · 14/02/2018 10:22

I wore white trainers that I customised myself, no way was I spending all day in heels!

Feezles · 14/02/2018 10:25

Do you want heels or are flats OK. If you would consider flats, I can whole-heartendly recommend Tieks.

They are shockingly, vomit-inducingly expensive for ballet flats, I am not going to try and pretend otherwise. But they are soooo comfy, they come in some gorgeous colours and finishes and perhaps you could splurge for your wedding?

I justify my own Tieks splurges on the basis that they come in sizes big enough for my elephant feet!

Oooh Feez I am happy that you have found shoes that fit you, but those split soles are pure ugly to me!

Pretty Ballerinas have some beautiful ones, look at these embroidered ones - would they match the dress?

slug · 14/02/2018 12:59

Something like this?

N0tfinished · 14/02/2018 13:30

Modcloth

Feezles · 14/02/2018 13:47

Haha Lucking - no, they're not for everyone, but I do love themSmile. The split sole means they fold up small so I can stash them in my handbag on nights out, but they still feel sturdy and like proper shoes, until other folding shoes I've tried that are very flimsy. But I don't just use them for that, I live in them in the spring and summer.

DarthNigel · 14/02/2018 15:33

Love loads of those ones on Etsy...almost makes me want to get married again Smile
