Bikini Waxing and Over Weight

Hi There
I'm going on holidays in the summer and want to try bikini waxing for the first time. I'm so sick of shaving because it grows back so quickly. However I am very over weight, as in a size 22 (and I've lost 5 stone already!) so I'm really nervous about the thought of going to get waxed. I wondered if anyone could put my mind at ease or give any advice to make me feel not so nervous?

Please keep your pants ON. Of a bit of stray wax dripped on you you’d know about it and have to have hair removed where you might not have intended. Pants will protect you.

As a therapist if a client came in without underwear I’d offer paper pants. No way I’d do a bikini line wax on a naked client.

I'm personally with the pants on brigade. I had my first bikini wax a couple of years ago and now wonder why I hadn't started sooner.

Therapists are professionals, have seen all sorts of bodies and most are experts at small talk and putting people at ease. If you already know the lady and are comfortable with her you'll be fine.

With regards to the pain factor, I barely even notice it. I guess those talking about paracetamol etc have more sensitive skin/stubborn hair than I do.

Congrats on the weight loss and have a fab holiday!

I take my pants off because I have a Hollywood wax, beautician tells me it's 90% of her customers this way.

I even have the backside done which involves a request to spread your cheeks. She's seen everything.

There's an area to wash and powder in my preferred salon.

Also agree with taking pants off, both salons I have been to over the last few years have requested this, and they are extremely well known places that specialise solely in waxing. It’s not embarrassing as they see it literally all day and I always make sure I am clean!

Well, you learn something new every day, I guess.

I would find a different salon if mine asked me to take my pants off. The whole ‘flop one leg to the side’ thing is bad enough, I’m not doing it knickerless (and can’t imagine why they’d want me to Confused).

I’m not sure why a therapist would want to see everything naked. They are not there to perform a cervical smear. Only to remove unwanted hair. It can all be done discreetly by moving underwear about. No need to expose all.

You say you are nice and clean, but not all people are.

I get waxed regularly at different salons and I've always been told to 'strip from the waist down'
I've never been given paper knickers!

WipsGlitter · 20/02/2018 09:42

I always wear pants!

Are the pants off people getting all hair off?

I just get the sides and a bit if the undercarriage done!

Are you getting a full Brazilian or whatever it is (all off)? Otherwise, why wouldn’t you question this?

This thread is like that episode of Friends where Joey thought the tailor had to cup his balls.

'That's how they do pants!'

' Yes it is. In prison!'
