Hairbands when 48 - yes or no?

Hi - Have chin length bobbed curly hair that on non hair wash days it does not behave! Have bought a plain stretchy hairband and it does make my hair look better- well I think so but both my DDs think it is not age appropriate!
Just wondered what the general Mumsnet view was and if I am committing a terrible fashion crime! Confused

As long as you're not channelling a 1980s Sloane Ranger with some big velvet number I think they're fine. Thin, black, and plain is the way to go.

Young DDs tend to have far too many opinions on what their mothers should wear Grin

Depends if they suit your face. I wouldn't because they make me look like awful, but that was true when I was young too. I wouldn't say age is the barrier to wearing them.
Agree that the kids have too many opinions!

Thanks - am not channelling the Sloane Ranger look! Grin

I would say an emphatic no.

expatinscotland · 08/02/2018 17:44

Sounds good to me.

neveradullmoment99 · 08/02/2018 17:49

Why ever not? As long as its not an alice band you will be fine. I think a stretchy band can look quite arty and funky at any age :)

MockneyReject · 08/02/2018 18:06

Oops, I'm 48 and bought my first ever hairband a few days ago!

Admittedly, I felt a bit self conscious about it, but it helped add volume to my newly-ish short hair.

I looked at lots of photo's on Pinterest, first. I specifically looked for 'hairbands older women'.

Just wear it, OP. What's the worst that can happen?

Huldas · 09/02/2018 09:36

All depends on your face shape my love. I look awful in hair bands and always have. If you think you look ok you probably suit it.

Floisme · 09/02/2018 09:37

It's fine and stop listening to your kids.

HildaZelda · 09/02/2018 11:07

No.

The grandma off the Good Wife.

rightknockered · 09/02/2018 14:16

I wouldn't. But maybe it suits you

greendale17 · 09/02/2018 14:18

goose1964 · 09/02/2018 16:30

friendlyflicka · 09/02/2018 16:33

I know someone of 65 who does the sloane ranger velvet black band and looks fabulous - genuinely stunning, but then she always does

Lotsofsausage · 11/02/2018 22:03
