Wrap dresses, whats that about?

Is the idea that the wrap dress is universally flattering for women? Is that why its always touted as a classic piece? Do you wear them?

Who does good ones?

No. And they’re not universally flattering, IMO. I don’t wear them as I think they look shit on me (tall, slim, but wide hips).

I never used to but now I have a fuller bust and am breastfeeding, they are flattering and practical for me.

I have loads. I particularly like faux wraps with an extra layer on skirt that hides a multitude of sins. Brilliant for work as you can just throw them on.

I have had a few in the past, but I have small boobs and a big bum so not flattering. Its not something I would wear now.

They’ve made a big comeback this year! Asos have loads at the mo. I’ve bought a couple after not having any for 10 years plus, I think they look current again now. They suit me as I need something nipped in at the waist

They're terrible on people with a small bust and wide hips. I can wear them if I'm ten stone or over, as my boobs are big enough at that weight to balance out the vastness of my hips. Under ten stone and they highlight a lack of bust, and every lump and bump of my ungainly legs.

I also think they’re making a come back. Which pleases me as I do think they suit me, I have big boobs though so maybe that’s why.

I don't think they are a good look for a big bust, they make mine look even bigger.

I think they are v flattering if the jersey is good quality and the dress is knee length.

Cheap jersey is a waste of time and either midi or mini lengths can look a bit odd.

They suit me but I always end up needing to wear a camisole underneath as walking in them seems to loosen them up and the bodice part ends up slipping open a bit too much.

I’ve got big boobs and enormous hips and thighs, the tight wrap dress can make me look like I’ve got a waist.

The wrong cut makes me look extraordinarily matronly....

I have big boobs & find that a wrap dress just divides them & yells, "look at me" plus the middle tie thingy doesnt usually sit where my natural waist is - so I essentially look like an overstuffed bag of potatoes. I end up feeling that I'm always tweaking the wrap or the tie to adjust it. Not for me sorry

Yes, the middle tie thing is a real problem if you’re at all prone to stomach bloat. (Ask me how I know.)

I don't think universally flattering exist. I quite like them and their 70s Halston vibe but as Crab says, they're not all the same. They're also often in a cheap fabric which does no favours - I think the original ones were a silk jersey. But I think what annoys me most is the way every time they come round they're flagged up as 'effortless' when actually they're quite hard work - often too low cut and flapping up when you walk. Maybe I won't bother this time.

I find that they just don’t seem to offer sensible chest coverage at all. I have to wear a vest under a wrap dress or I’ll be flashing my bra all over the place.

I’m not a fan.

I have a couple of work ones from Hobbs.co.uk which I like. They are comfy. I have wide hips and small boons and not much gap between hip and waist so to be honest not much is flattering really. Not all wraps are good. Depends on the design.

I think they’re really flattering, and so easy to wear. I am somewhere between an hourglass and a pear shape though, depending on fluctuations in weight.

They make me feel really confident and feminine, which is how I like to look and feel.

You can be in a rush, and just throw one on over a pair of leggings and add boots and look like you’ve made an effort.

I am not a trouser or jeans person - neither suit me, or fit well in the slightest. I do not feel good in them. Summer culottes yes, trousers and jeans, no!

Even though I’m a sahm and student, I live in stretchy pencil skirts and dresses, and regularly get complimented on my appearance. Little do they know I get dressed so quickly!

I don't have much of a waist and they make me look like a brick, especially from behind. From the front I look like a brick with huge boobs, wearing a dressing gown.
