Nail polish for LED lamp

CocktailsAndDreams · 07/02/2018 16:48

I’ve been given an LED lamp so I can do my own gels. Thing is, I haven’t a clue where to start.

Please could someone tell me the best brands to use with an LED lamp and also what accessories do I need e.g. base and top coats / remover / tools etc.

Thanks!

I use Blue Sky and buy them on eBay. You often find there are deals for buying multiple colours (including Base and top coat)

You'll need:

Isopropyl alcohol (sometimes called Prep & Wipe)
Linton free gauze/ cotton swabs
Colour of choice
Base & Top coat

Clean all residue of old polish off your nails, file etc, then wipe thoroughly with alcohol (to remove all oil etc which will stop polish adhering)

Apply Base coat neatly, cure for 2 mins under lamp
Apply colour, try to avoid getting any on your skin! Cure for 2 mins
Apply 2nd coat of colour, cure for 2 mins
Apply top coat, cure for 2 mins.

At this point the top coat will still be sticky - this is normal. Use the alcohol and swabs to wipe all sticky residue from each nail.

Apply cuticle oil to your cuticles to compensate for where the alcohol has died them out.

I usually paint both hands, then cure one after the other to speed things up.

Hope that helps.

Also don't do your nails after any kind of soaking eg washing dishes or a 'hand soak' - your nails need to be totally dry as moisture will stop polish adhering and can encourage fungal growth!

Blue sky all the way. Look for the no wipe top coat and base coat set on amazon

If it's an LED light then you only need to cure the base for 30 seconds and 1 min for each colour and top coats.

Have any of you tried Essie gel polishes? Bluesky ruins my nails so I have been looking for alternatives.

IVe got sensationail both the original and the express. I like it as I can buy in boots and use my points. Smile the original works well, IVe had mixed results with the express. But the express needs no base or top coat, really us super quick to put on so u don't mind compromising on how long it lasts.
