Fit flops - are any of the styles acceptable?!

After many years of running I am currently suffering from very sore Achilles and pain in my foot. I generally wear brogues, Chelsea boots and converse high tops....all of which are making my feet hurt more right now!! I really can't bring myself to look at sketchers and can't wear trainers all the time. Are these totally awful?!? I tried them on and they were literally so comfortable and cushioned my poor feet, but I can't decide whether they are awful granny shoes or sort of ok...

They also have them in metallic which might make me feel better about my silver converse!

So...yes or no?!? Or any other ideas for cushioned comfortable trendy shoes/boots that aren't trainers or sketchers?!?

For those of you who are appalled at the prices, the sole doesnt wear away.

I have a couple of pairs of sandals I bought for a holiday in 2009. They scrub really really well and looking at the sole it has not begun to wear away.

They last so long it is money well spent. My sandals were £50 and I bought them 9 years ago. They are still very much wearable. So that is £5.55 a year or 46p per month or 12p per week. Not bad value.

The sneakerboots would blend right in where I live (SW London). Plenty of women wearing similar styles round here. Whether this is a good thing or not....

chalkyc2 have you received the furry sneakers?
What do you think of them?
I got mine today Smile

FoofFighter · 14/02/2018 16:02

Which are the furry sneakers?

chalkyc2 · 14/02/2018 20:26

These ones...

Yes I have them! I like them I think!! They are super comfortable and lovely soft leather. I can almost convince myself they are kind of camper - like in style.

What do you think teta?

I love Fitflops but haven't liked any of the styles recently- was shocked that these horrors are £290!!!!!

ElfrideSwancourt · 14/02/2018 22:02

And the pic....

teta · 14/02/2018 22:45

I like yours chalky...,,
Not sure about mine. They are a slipper/sneaker hybrid and too big.

cornescapes · 14/02/2018 22:56

I love Fitflops, they are pretty much the only footwear brand I wear now. The soles are really 'bouncy' and I can stay on my feet all day. The soles don't wear out so they last for ages, and you can often pick up cheaper pairs on Amazon, Cloggs or Brandalley. I don't like all of their styles - hate the over-use of patent and tassles. The plain Oxford shoes are a great office alternative to brogues, and the superskate shoes are good for wearing with jeans.

chalkyc2 · 14/02/2018 23:18

Haha teta - they do look like slippers!

Mine are perfect size - will take real life pics tmrw. I have to say there are very few of the seemingly hundreds of styles fitflop do that I like...and agree the weird over priced 'limited' edition sliders are awful and unnecessary.

Whole day trial tomorrow...

FOr all of you who say the sole doesn’t wear out, mine do! I end with holes after about 3 months

teta · 15/02/2018 08:48

I’ve worn fitflops for years and have never had a sole wear out. Some of the flip flops have lasted for years ...,or until the toe post breaks.
On another note the Vionic high heeled tan boots I bought in the sale are fantastic and really comfortable

LIZS · 15/02/2018 08:55

The only styles whose soles I've worn out are the slippers which get worn everyday, indoor and out. Even then they last 2 years. Just got my ankle boots yesterday and they are a snug fit, a bit narrower than many styles, but very light.

SilverHairedCat · 15/02/2018 08:57

I know everyone will recoil, but have a look at Crocs. They do some lovely shoe designs that aren't the scary clogs, and at so comfy. May be very good shoes for PF.

ZaZathecat · 15/02/2018 13:33

I really like the ones you got, op. I'm not keen on the trainers with everything style and prefer your boots.

Bourgainvillia · 15/02/2018 17:30

For sloping about in the house, your neighbourhood or garden, they're perfect in my opinion. Who cares what the kids or cat thinks lol.

LIZS · 28/02/2018 14:43

Finally conceded defeat that the toes were too tight so decided to return and reorder in a larger size. Tried the mn 25% discount code but it didn't work Confused so reverted to the 20% one.
