Really comfy holiday shoes (Florida)

Going in a few months but want to buy shoes early so that I can break them in. Need comfy to walk long distance but not too hideous looking. Ideally need a pair of sandals with a thick sole but no toe post. I’ve got fit flops but although the sole is lovely they are tight over the top of my foot so not particularly comfortable. Also would like some sort of walking shoe - I think my feet will be too hot in trainers but something with similar comfort.

Birkenstocks. As someone who was on my feet all day, I can't recommend them enough. I buy direct from the German website. Great service and they're not all fugly. I get these: (Tabora) www.birkenstock.com/gb/search?q=Tabora&lang=en_GB but if I needed some this year I would definitely try these (Yara) www.birkenstock.com/gb/yara-birko-flor/yara-graceful-birkoflor-0-eva-w.html?dwvar_yara-graceful-birkoflor-0-eva-w_color=11409#start=11

Teva walking sandals are fab. Or Reef adjustable sandals (a bit more chunky but so comfy). I will be taking my Reef sandals to Florida in March :-)

And for walking Sketchers Go Walk. Now they are fugly but so comfortable and lighter fabric.

I wear Animal Swish flip flops in Florida, one pair has done me three trips of solid Disney walking.

Mamaohana · 06/02/2018 12:24

Lots of interesting suggestions thank you! I will definitely take a look at Animal swish flip flops as they look perfect for wearing around the pool/hotel/water park. I love Birkenstocks but they are a bit more than I wanted to pay as the last time I went to Florida I had to throw my shoes away afterwards as the soles were falling off! I think they’d be perfect for summer in this country though. I’ve got an old pair of go walks which I will probably travel in but might make my feet too sweaty during the day in the parks! Very much like the look of the Teva’s, I might be tempted to get them.

Also if you head to The Dibb or DisBoards forums there are normally lots of suggestions from seasoned park goers!

Sketchers or hotter sandals

Mamaohana · 06/02/2018 15:20

I’ve already ordered some Tevas! Thank you for that suggestion. I think I might need at least one other pair however! Grin. I check out the other forums.

Hi all. I'm going soon aswel Smile. Would you not recommended flip floppy type , would they fly off ( on the rides ?)

Unihorn · 06/02/2018 15:35

Any rides that shoes could come off on will allow you to take them off at the front of the line so you can sit on them ie. on floorless rides and coasters. I prefer flip flops to trainers as my feet get too hot.

Hoppinggreen · 06/02/2018 15:37

Sketchers
I’ve got a few different styles, including sandals

Youcanstayundermyumbrella · 06/02/2018 15:37

My Merrells are incredibly comfortable and quite pretty. They are more or less indestructible too.

I was also going to say Birkies, I wear the Mayari style. It would take a lot to wear the sole off. I reckon I must have walked at beast 1000 mikes in my last pair.

I live in the US in a place where it is very hot from late spring onwards. My birkenstock nayaris have lasted 2 years of pretty much daily wear from spring to autumn and are still good enough for this year. I don't think you'd have to worry about the sole wearing down after just a holiday!
