Mutton dressed as lamb

I have recently lost nearly three stone . I’m not bragging . It’s taken years to be motivated and scared of putting it back on . Anyway ... it’s my 50th and am having a party in a pub . It’s not a smart pub . I want to finally show off my figure but I don’t want to look like mutton dressed as lamb . I am a size 12-14 and want a dressy top and nice evening trousers or jeans . Can anyone help or send a link . I have no style . 😭

hey kizzyma how tall are you?

mickeymacca · 04/02/2018 22:14

ok i would go with a long line blazer such as this one at Boohoo. You will get so much wear out of it can dress it up or down. I'd wear with really skinny jeans and either knee high boots or strappy heels. Add a sparkly top such as this... Both from Boohoo. Ignore the teeny bopper girls on Boohoo website I'm late 30's and get loads of stuff from there.

or this top would look fab too -

that blazer will be a great length on you then. I'm 5'6 and have a similar one from New Look but dont think they do it now.... enjoy trying things on!!

Wouldn't you freeze in that top?

mabelchiltern · 06/02/2018 21:56

Leather look trousers - go girl

Chocolateteabag · 06/02/2018 22:11

Personally I'd go for some black cigarette style trousers like these Richmond ones from Boden (20% code is floating about)

And then a top in a pale pink or ivory colour - if you wear a jacket you'll be hot in a busy pub? I've started looking at people who "look good" when I'm out - and I often think the paler colours look much classier than anything too bright
Tops like:

sparkly monsoon top]]
hush white lace top in sale
Reiss so £££ - with long fine chains in silver or gold?

Happy birthday OP

Chocolateteabag · 06/02/2018 22:13

Ooh yes! Leather leggings!
Hush or Baukjen do some

Or Pleather if you can find a pair that don't slide down (you'll be forever going to the loo to haul them back up - or that's my experience with a pleather M&S pair)

Well done OP! I agree with PP, I think a nice sparkly top with a simple black blazer and trousers will look lovely. Or if you don’t want to wear a sparkly top you could always get a nice bag and jewellery. Happy bday!
