Normally, my nails are long and strong but the last month or so, they keep peeling and breaking really really low and I've no idea why Sad Any advice to stop this breakage?

I had some success with taking biotin. It was a Holland and Barrett supplement for hair skin and nails. Taking the suggested dose of 3 a day gave me a headache but one tablet a day didn't and really improved my nail growth after a month or so.

Nail Envy by opi has done wonders for my peeling nails, they also used to break really low. Now I've got to actually cut them for the first time in my life. It was recommended in here by lots of people.

I wonder if it could be lack of Vitamin D? I used to get very weak nails around this time of year, but have been taking Vit D all winter, and my nails seem to be much stronger this year. As we're all considered to be low in Vit D during the winter months it might be a good idea to supplement it.

ooh this is me too! Mine are normally so strong, but keep tearing low down, especially the thumbs. I like the vitamin D theory, it would explain why it's worse this time of year

Me too. It's unusual for me as my hair and nails are usually quite strong. The vitamin D theory is interesting - I'm going to give that a go.

I used OPI gel break for a while before Christmas but although my nails looked nice they were still dry and split easily. This week I have cut them really short and used Elemis Frangipani oil on them and they feel better but don't look that great.
