Joneseygirl77 · 03/02/2018 08:44

I’m on the hunt for a new perfume so after suggestions for brands where it lasts all day. The only one I’ve found that lasts is Chanel. Jo Malone/ Chloe/ Acqua Di Parma- all seem to have disappeared by lunch.

Hit me with your suggestions please!

Pop onto the friendly perfume thread and ask on there

SoFancy · 03/02/2018 11:51

You'll get loads of suggestions on the Perfumista thread, but it really depends on what type of perfume you like? There are loads of perfumes that project a lot (so other people can smell you coming) and/or last a long time.

There was an article about this on the Fragrantica website recently, with lots of people suggesting perfumes on the comments below. See what you think: Strong Perfumes

HolyMountain · 03/02/2018 12:02

I love Poeme, whenever I wear it people comment and ask what I’m wearing, not in a rude way I hasten to add Smile. I also wear Flowerbomb and that lasts all day too, on me anyway.

fuzzyfozzy · 03/02/2018 12:07

Is it a personal thing, do perfumes last differently on different people.
All the ones I have done last all day. But yesterday I used a fcuk body spray and could still smell it as I went to bed.

Lucked · 03/02/2018 13:34

Agent provocateur last all day on me, I actually prefer the dry down which is dry and musky to the initial smell which is quite overpowering. I put it on at home and it smells nice when I get to work and I don't have to reapply.

I don't have a casual scent that lasts well though.

Butterfly1975 · 03/02/2018 15:51

The strongest perfumes I've tried have been La Vie est Belle, Angel and Alien. I find them all a bit much though. A lot of the perfumes I really love have little longevity. Jo Malone perfumes barely last an hour on me!

BlackSwan79 · 03/02/2018 16:26

I usually find Chanel the only one that lasts on me but recently bought Shay & Blue and it lasts all day

CantChoose · 03/02/2018 16:52

Glad it's not just me with the jo malone. The lady in the store was very rude and said it was obviously just because I can't smell it Hmm. She seemed to take personal offence that I said I wanted to test how long it lasted and would come back if to purchase if it did. It didn't...

The ones that last the longest tend to be quite overpowering and not to everyone's taste to be honest. Boudoir, angel, poison etc. I find that Penhaligon's and Chanel both last well too. I usually spray my clothes a bit too but I have quite oily skin which I've read looses scents quickly so maybe that's why I struggle!

Chugalug · 03/02/2018 16:54

I've about 4 body shop perfumes, none last longer than a couple of hours on me

DXBCat · 03/02/2018 16:58

I find Tom Ford (velvet orchid etc) perfumes very long lasting. Also Dior perfumes are fairly intense like J'adore etc. I also love the Thierry Mugler stuff but appreciate they are quite strong and not everyone's cup of tea. I agree Jo Malone stuff not long lasting. Only the bath oil and candles worth it, not the perfume.

Argeles · 03/02/2018 16:59

Chanel and Floris perfumes last for a long time.

BluebellGal · 03/02/2018 17:10

Jo Malone doesn’t make many actual perfumes- most are colognes so that’s why they don’t last. They are massively marked up imo - the quality of ingredients means they’re no better than Yardley.

Some of my longest lasting perfumes are from Ruth Mastenbroek, 4160 Tuesdays and Bath House. I don’t find Tom Ford or Creed very long lasting. Diptyque has terrible longevity imo

userofthiswebsite · 03/02/2018 17:12

Coco Mademoiselle is my longest lasting. Sometimes I can put something through the wash, be ironing it, and still smell the perfume on there.
At least you get some bang for your buck so to speak...

BluebellGal · 03/02/2018 17:13

Longevity of Shay and Blue is much better than Jo Malone. They have a similar approach to linear blends of two/ three main notes. I find them quite comparable but S&B much cheaper- £55 for 100ml. I really like Dandelion Fig and Framboise Noire

JaceLancs · 03/02/2018 17:13

Guerlain last longest on me - followed by Chanel then Dior
Lancôme and YSL don’t last well on me
Estée Lauder is somewhere in between as is Eli Saab

mimibunz · 03/02/2018 17:16

I’ve been trying out the Penhaligon’s Trade Route perfumes and found they generally last for 6 hours. I love the dry down of Oud de Nil and As Sawira!

Butterfly1975 · 03/02/2018 17:30

Yy Shay and Blue - I sprayed the new Black Tulip perfume in M&S last week and could still smell it on my wrist when I went to bed!

Body Shop perfumes generally seem to have terrible longevity although the Elixirs of Nature line are better, albeit much more expensive.

Angel Muse is amazing - the only one of the Angel flankers I really like and lasts all day on me. Love the residue on my scarves too!

opalmum · 03/02/2018 17:50

I'd like to know this too! I'm always after a good long lasting , big perfume. What's the point if I can't smell it after an hour or so? Don't want to reapply it every hour! The last Shay and Blue I had was Blood Orange which lasted about half a day on me. And loved. I've got a caramel Shay and Blue one , but I can barely smell it on me at all. I guess it depends on which notes your nose can detect/ is sensitive to. Perfumes that I can smell after a good two hours are - Mary Greenwells Plum. (Wearing this today, and its so lovely!) Alien, Angel. And the new Thierry Mugler one too. And Lidls cheapy Madame Glamour lasts amazingly for the money. Diors Poison is huge and lasts. But too recognisable and 80s for me. Guerlain Shalimar and Mitsuko. But not a huge fan of either. And Jessica Simpsons Fancy Nights lasts a good hour or two and reminds me of Guerlain Shalimar a bit. Sarah Jessica Parkers Lovely - Gets a fair bit of love but I can barely smell this on me at all! Even straight after applying. 4160 Tuesdays Dark heart of old Havana was lovely and lasted. But some other 4160 Tuesdays perfumes have not had the same long lasting , big impact on me. Tom Ford Black Orchid knock off. Avon Tapage, which reminded me of Poison, and lasted for ages, but not any other Avon scent. And I tried Nuxe Prodigeous perfume the other day, from Marksies, and that lasted for ages! I was quite surprised by that one, because it seemed like more of a light daytime type scent. I wonder if all these have a note in common, like patchouli or something that means I can still smell them after a few hours? I'll be following this with interest!

sentenceinterrupted · 03/02/2018 18:05

The Boudicea range (Harrods, selfridges, online) are all v ling lasting except one or two (intuitive and a citrusy one I can't recall the name of). Like the Tom ford, they have a much higher concentration of actual fragrance in them, rather than fillers. They are more expensive, though. There are a lot of 'heavy' ones, which are too much for me (think Middle East), but some are gorgeous. Because they are more actual fragrance, they'll change more when you put them on, so really need to try them on your skin.

pimlicolife · 03/02/2018 18:21

I agree with the suggestions of Flowerbomb and any Agent Provocateur perfume. They both last all day for me too.

Joneseygirl77 · 04/02/2018 08:17

Thanks all. Some good suggestions there to try. I have some spare time in an airport this week so will have a good hunt round.

The main problem is I generally prefer lighter scents which are the ones that never last. Will definitely check out Shay and Blue though.

Chanel “Chance” is a lasting one on me.

Branleuse · 04/02/2018 08:23

vivienne westwood boudoir lasts ages. I can smell it the next day.
Also Tom ford perfumes are long lasting. I have santal blush on my scarf that i can still smell months later

Branleuse · 04/02/2018 08:23

now everyone knows i dont wash my scarves enough!!

PNGirl · 04/02/2018 08:25

Casmir by Chopard lasts for days but it is such an obnoxious vanilla that I have to be feeling brave (even though I love it).
