Wtf were Benefit thinking?

They've posted a before and after of their new mascara on a model..

That is some Younique level spider lash hell .

I'd expect better from a huge brand like Benefit.

I was hoping that was the 'before' pic.

Their Instagram is showing less clunky "after" photos now but in my mind the damage is done. Why would you want to even try mascara like that? They hugely overhyped the launch too...

Her eyes are seriously amazing though aren't they 😍.

That's the thing though, how did a pic that makes the product look so bad make it onto Instagram?!

My friend is a makeup artist and can make my bog standard make up look amazing.. how has a presumably good make up artist made that mascara look so so bad.

Usually the before and after are of the same half of the face. That's two different eyes to start with

Not blaming it totally on the MUA btw, but the model has gorgeous eyes, surely any mascara should look better than that when applied by a pro!

I swear tho that a lot of mascara ads (especially on social media like insta or Facebook) seem to be showing these god awful clumpy lashes as a good thing at the moment. New trend maybe

I think it's quite funny....all that hype for....a mascara. I bet the promo staff wandering around in the bright pink spacesuits were glad their faces were hidden 😁

This whole marketing campaign is ridiculous. I've been faced with numerous smug bloggers Instagramming about it from the Maldives!

Tbf if I had to test that product I'd do it on a remote island too.

The launch has been ridiculous!! I work in a beauty hall, benefit had a countdown thing on their counter, I asked what they were launching, the girls told me they were really sorry but they couldn’t tell me! I’ve worked with them for years FFS

Shaaaaaaaanxo (never know how many 'a's it is!) had a pic of this on one eye on her Instagram and it looked way better than that, it looked great actually.

I love Benefit but don’t rate their mascara at all.

Oh dear.....their mascaras are usually pretty good!

I've never got on with their mascara.

But Hoola I've been using for years.

I was looking at that picture thinking it really wasn't that bad, and just starting to get a bit paranoid about people maybe judging my mascara in real life as it really doesn't look that different to the picture...
Then I clicked on the picture out of curiosity and it zoomed in.
Oh my. Now I see the problem.
That is a terrible choice of advert picture!

I do use and like 'they're real', especially with the benefit primer underneath.. I'm clearly doing it wrong though if spider lashes are the goal.

Oh hang on. 5 to midnight. Oh well. Like Cinderella, back to normal at the stroke of 12. Sigh.
