Lisette, Paris for the past week, tend to opt for walking over the metro most of the time as it takes just as long. Despite doing a lot of daily exercises I actually don't walk that much as I'll grab the bike most of the time, should probably consider incorporating some more.
AuldA, thanks for starting the new thread, hope your paper/presentation is coming along. Remind me if I forgot later to put up the Vente Depot/Vintage shop adresses for you.
From the previous thread: Elle, I think with the first outfit there's nothing intrinsically wrong with it but there's nothing to really focus on either. Don't know if accessorising would change that up dramatically, I'd be tempted to swap out the shoes for boots with a bit more personality. Tucking the white sleeves under the sweater so only 1.5-2cm peep out so they're less dominant when nothing else is. Or swap out the white for a charcoal shirt, then tucking in the sweater (if that's bearable, office temps wise) and a slim belt may also help a bit.
For the second outfit, I have no idea what these are officially called but those silhouette cuffs stacked with one or two slimmer ones could work, but might clash with the watch (don't know if that's an essential or not). The ones in the first pic are from bangle up a brand I came across in Le Bon Marche.
I think cuffs have been a bit neglected for a bit, and I like the idea of looking at them anew a bit, like in the second pic. The third pic is from the most recent Vetements show and they also seem to be playing with them in the styling, albeit a street style aesthetic.
Flo, loving the almost zoot suits inspo pic, wondering if those are going to be resurging now.
Madame, I quite like mixing navy and black but I think the contrast needs to be repeated more than once, otherwise it might read 'got dressed in the dark and mistook navy for black tights'. Feel the same would go for burgundy. If those colours are noticeably present in the embroidery it may very well work though.
Thing is, you've sort of planted your flag in different (gorgeous sounding) textures of black, which almost turns them into different shades. So I'd personally go with low denier tights (love Wolford for opaques but I think Fogal are the most beautiful when it comes to lower denier tights, especially the ones with silk mixed in). Then you'd be playing the texture game as well as the opacity game as the light will catch more sheen in the shearling, absorb it in the suede, etc. A bit of semi-transparency gives it a bit of breathing space and bridges those contrasts as well and it won't interfere with the subtle embroidery.
Zippy, I think with layering necklaces, quirky is probably right that it's more a S/S thing as you need quite a bit of real estate space for them. Weekday also had some very delicate mixed ones IIRC. I've also accidentally hacked it by connecting the ends of several silver necklaces together (some needing a good clean) to each other into one long necklace that I loop over my head, the contrast in finishes works well too. Initially just did it so they'd stop tangling together
Lots of dry shampoo (for texture, a beach spray can work too) and some sort of grease in the ends for the hair, am still very much loving the Rene Furterer dry shampoo I bought on a whim.
Rosie, Reiko do jackets in that sort of boyfriend fit. This one in deep indigo is a bit more casual as it's in denim. This one is more formal but I can't really make out the colour (listed as sweat
), up close it looks more navy to me but from afar it reads as grey/charcoal as well. It also comes in 'navy' but it's not really a deep navy. I also quite like it in 'square carmine' which is a mix of navy and carmine, but perhaps not what you're looking for at all.
Pinpon, Wolford sometimes does 3 for 2 offers during the sales period. Their own site is good to keep an eye on too with a decent first purchase offer IIRC, the sales themselves and the outlets are not that great IME as it's mostly the ludicrously expensive fancy tights in odd colours that get marked down. TKMaxx sometimes gets them in. Falke is a good second best at better prices though.
