If the dress code is "Lounge Suit", what do I wear?

I need to go to a formal dinner party with my husband at the house of his CEO - the invitation states that the dress code is "Lounge suit". I understand that this means a regular business suit for the men, but what does it mean for women?

I'm pretty socially anxious and awkward at the best of times, so I'm dreading this dinner anyway, but at least if I'm sure I'm wearing the right thing it will be one less thing to get anxious about.

Can I wear my faithful Monsoon black knee length A-Line cocktail dress, with heels and a jacket? I would at least feel reasonably comfortable in that if I know its appropriate and I wouldn't look over or under dressed.

faithful monsoon lbd sounds perfect.

Wow that sounds wanky. I don’t envy you.

Go with the LBD.

Never known anyone give a dress code for their own home. Wear your LBD. Sounds poncey (the event, not the frock).

Crumbs1 · 02/02/2018 14:58

LBD is perfect

Your dress sounds spot on.

LostInLeics · 02/02/2018 16:55

Brilliant, thanks very much for the unanimous reassurance that the LBD is the way to go!

You can NEVER go wrong with a LBD.

Yes your dress will be exactly right.

"Lounge suit" dress code = "A nice frock" for the ladies.
Your little black dress will be perfect :)
