Am I slovenly not to wear matching bra and knickers?

Because I never do! I usually wear lace bralet type bras in whichever colour I can find them in, and then multipack knickers in black or white from Primark.

My friend was horrified when I told her that I don't wear matching sets and said that she always does!

So am I being a slob by not wearing sets?

I match colour but not often from a “set”. I have lots of black everyday bras and about 40 pairs black knickers I think. Then about 5 nice matching sets for special occasions.
I only wear totally unmatching for riding which is ironically when I’ll be most likely to need a paramedic.....

When I buy a nice bra I’ll by several pairs of the matching knickers then its easier to wear.

MaisyPops · 31/01/2018 22:48

I start off with great intentions when i buy bras and get 2 pairs of knickers to match if it's a 'treat myself' set.
The sad reality is I match about twice every 6 months and then announce to DH that I'm proud of my achievement abd he replies with 'bloody hell'.

clary · 31/01/2018 22:50

yy to those it's big boobs. I buy bras for my crazy size from by
fast op and they are always in mad colours - so don't match my black cotton knickers :(

DontMakeMeShushYou · 31/01/2018 22:50

I wear the correct colour underwear for whatever outerwear I'm wearing but the two items don't necessarily match. So I'll wear black knickers if I'm wearing black or dark-coloured trousers and then if I'm wearing a white or lighter-coloured top, I'll wear a white bra. I wouldn't wear black knickers under white linen trousers or a white bra under a black top just for the sake of having matching underwear.

Anyway, I'm another in the big boobs club which means matching underwear is hard to find / expensive to buy.

Lweji · 31/01/2018 22:51

I've owned some matching sets, but rarely match them and can't be bothered.

Many people don't even wear matching bikinis.

clary · 31/01/2018 22:51

bloody auto correct. I buy my bras from BRASTOP

RosinaAlmaviva · 31/01/2018 22:56

I also prefer high-waisted knickers because they don't cut into my muffin top. My favourite kind are French knickers, don't have any atm but if I can lose enough weight/find some money I'm planning a trip to What Katie Did.

How can you match every day? Clean knickers every day of course, but clean bra each day? No way...i get a week out of my bra with whatever pants i grab first each morning!

toffee1000 · 31/01/2018 23:04

I never match. I don’t have that many bras (don’t really like the padded type, my boobs never fill them properly). No-one’s ever going to see my underwear anyway (not in a relationship, never have been and probably won’t be for a good while) so IDGAF. I buy bras and knickers that fit, I don’t really care for the colours much.

Judydreamsofhorses · 31/01/2018 23:08

I buy two knickers to each bra, one thong, one short, but generally wash bras each wear as well as pants.

NotEnoughCushions · 31/01/2018 23:11

I am very busty, very round, and always wear matching underwear. 😊. I hadn't realised it was a 'thing'.

I buy three pairs of pants to go with each bra and have been known to throw pants out if the bra disintegrates in the wash. Other than my matching underwear I mostly resemble a bag of washing topped by Mr Potato Head.

(I do also have neat handwriting 😊)

soundsystem · 31/01/2018 23:15

I pretty much always wear matching underwear, but only because it's pretty much all black!

BothersomeCrow · 31/01/2018 23:24

The recent thread on gusset misplacement proved that many of us wear plain cotton pants because the gussets on fancy ones are too far back.
I figure everything goes with black.

MaryLennoxsScowl · 31/01/2018 23:37

The knickers that go with bras are almost always comically VPL-ish/an uncomfortable thong/minuscule to the point of showing acres of bikini line hair/see-through or all of the above. This may be because I've been buying mine in topshop as can't face M&S's nuclear-heated changing rooms. Anyway, I agree one needs pants that don't show through your trousers plus bras that don't show through your tops, and it's ridiculously difficult to achieve both with one set. Also, little lacy pants allow the seams on one's jeans to rub horribly, you need a bit of cotton in between.

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 01/02/2018 00:12

STBX's mistress used to pride herself on wearing matching sets nigh on all the time
Did she tell you that or did he?

A C-cup is very small.

I am also fascinated by three pairs of pants a day.

I've said this before but years ago M&S used to sell multipacks of cotton knickers that matched that season's bras. So you could buy a bra, some sexy knickers and three pairs of everyday pants that all co-ordinated. So sensible.

TinaMena · 01/02/2018 00:52

I used to wear matching underwear back in the days when I worked in a restaurant and had to get changed in the staff room in front of everyone. Don't worry so much these days!

halfwitpicker · 01/02/2018 00:56

3 pairs a day? GrinShock

What do you do for work?

halfwitpicker · 01/02/2018 00:58

Hate the word gusset.

First time poster having only joined a few days ago...........

I love seeing my OH in matching underwear & always try to buy her some at xmas & birthdays. She is a G cup & a size 12 so not always easy to find but M&S had a rather nice set recently (blue).........and I also add in matching "socks" as well.

Just to add that I've been divorced twice and both my ex-wives had a good collection of lingerie when we parted.

I sometimes match, if I'm wearing a white dress I have to wear white knickers and bra, sometimes I'll wear black knickers and bra, most of the time though, I don't match at all. I've given up on trying to find bras in my actual size so wear stretchy crop top type things, I own black, grey, white, and cream, and my knickers are various colours and patterns as I buy multi packs from Sainsbury's. I'm cheap, but I feel comfortable, so I don't care.

PanannyPanoo · 01/02/2018 02:00

My socks don't match each other and they like that. Means they get to mingle more and make new friends.

Bra and knickers are the same. Whichever comes out of the drawer first and fits and isn't screaming "I am very very pink and your top is white" is fine, meet new underwear see if you get on.

I think that discriminating against sock, bras or pants is definitely ist.
Not sure if pantist, colourist or laceist, but must be something ist.

forgotpassword · 01/02/2018 02:11

All I want to know is why 3 pairs of pants??

Lweji · 01/02/2018 07:25

if I'm wearing a white dress I have to wear white knickers and bra

If you wear white under white, and the dress is not fully opaque, then your white underwear will be on display.
It's better to wear nude or a tone of pink that matches your skin.
