Am I slovenly not to wear matching bra and knickers?

Because I never do! I usually wear lace bralet type bras in whichever colour I can find them in, and then multipack knickers in black or white from Primark.

My friend was horrified when I told her that I don't wear matching sets and said that she always does!

So am I being a slob by not wearing sets?

OP posts:
YouWereRight · 31/01/2018 14:35

I don't think I've been ever owned a matching set of underwear.

barefoofdoctor · 31/01/2018 14:44

I wear Asda bras (great and super cheap) but buy silk knickers from M&S Rosie range (don't rate Asda knickers or M&S random bra sizing which bares no resemblance to real life sizes). I get round the matching conundrum by a. Not giving a toss and b. Choosing bras which have several predominant colours, currently purple, pink and black then matching the knickers to one of the colours. Alternatively buy everything in black?

RosinaAlmaviva · 31/01/2018 15:18

I try not to wear more than three colours, outerwear and underwear included. I'm petite and find it hard to look pulled together otherwise. No-one's going to see my underwear but I feel more confident and organised when it matches.

Unfortunately I have some challenges in this area. I'm another one who is busty and usually buys bras from Bravissimo. I can't afford the matching knickers, so I buy M&S multipacks and try to match up the colours. When I can't match bra to knickers I stick to my three-colour rule. I'd love drawers full of matching sets in every colour but it's the same champagne tastes, beer budget problem I've had for much of my life.

Right now I want to dye my face flannels and muslins red, a la Dita von Teese, to avoid red lipstick stains, and I'm thinking of dying some M&S white knickers and a slip along with them, so I can match my red bra, except I'm not sure how well the slip would dye. It's one of those M&S 'cooling' ones.

All that said, OP, I think your friend is being silly. It's totally a matter of personal choice whether you match your underwear or not. It sounds like she's worried the lingerie police are going to arrest you!

specialsubject · 31/01/2018 18:39

I believe that the ambulance service don't check . Sexual partners are only interested in its removal.
If you are a stripper it may be worth a match but otherwise don't worry...

PARunnerGirl · 31/01/2018 20:36

Always matching! BUT.. I have tiny boobs and so it’s not difficult to buy matching underwear. I just kind of feel more “put together” when I know I match. Silly I know!

goose1964 · 31/01/2018 21:46

Have it up when I got married, except for the odd sale pairs. I've still got the pants for one set ,god knows how long ago the bra died

goose1964 · 31/01/2018 21:47

Gave not have, why does autofill incorrectly correct a proper word?

EggsonHeads · 31/01/2018 21:47

Is your friend 14?

SergeantFredColon · 31/01/2018 21:49

Is anyone else more interested in the 3 pairs a day poster??!

Freshprincess · 31/01/2018 21:51

Big boobs mean expensive bras, so I don't bother with matching knickers. The only matching ones I've got were free with the bra.

They're usually the same colour, but I don't go out of my way to match them up.

Liz38 · 31/01/2018 22:08

I'm another one whose big boobs mean it's too expensive to match! there's a market opening there...

PseuDenim · 31/01/2018 22:10

My bras cost £95 each and the matching knickers are £45 a pair!!! So I have a few for ahem specials, but otherwise just buy cotton knickers but in the same colour as the bra. I’d be bankrupt otherwise (albeit in some very classy smalls)

Judydreamsofhorses · 31/01/2018 22:18

Mine match. I have just always done it and would never buy a bra unless I could get matching knickers. My DP was amazed once we’d got over the honeymoon period and it didn’t taper off!

TinselAngel · 31/01/2018 22:19

I have to buy expensive bras for my enormous bosoms. The matching pants always cost something ridiculous like 20 odd quid. I wear multi pack black pants from M &S / Sainsbury's.

Clankboing · 31/01/2018 22:20

I spend ages getting the right bra. But the matching pants (which I have bought) are never comfy enough.

ILoveDolly · 31/01/2018 22:21

Whut? No.

reallyanotherone · 31/01/2018 22:24

Me! What is that all about? You’d need about 30 pairs of pants or be forever washing!

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 31/01/2018 22:25

I don’t think I’ve ever worn matching underwater.

WhereBeThatBlackbirdTo · 31/01/2018 22:26

Yep, I too need to know about 3 pairs a day.

A pair on to get ready for work...

Is that like wearing last night's knickers to walk the dog in the dark?

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 31/01/2018 22:31

This thread has been most interesting.

Apparently some people change their knickers 3 times a day and others think Ccup boobs are small.

All mind boggling.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 31/01/2018 22:32

Since 2 C sections I find a lot of fancy pants just slide down into my scar, fetchingly emphasising the tummy overhang. So I wear high-waisted ones almost exclusively. Multipacks from Tesco usually. This means they almost never match my bras.

xyzandabc · 31/01/2018 22:36

I have never owned a matching set. I own 2 bras that fit, one black, one white, alternated depending on what I'm wearing over the top. Then about 3 sports bras for exercise, they only get worn once before washing hence needing 3.
Knickers are multi packs of cotton briefs.

Unihorn · 31/01/2018 22:40

SergeantFredColon
100%, I am totally baffled by that!?

I am another who does not own any matching underwear. I own about 4 or 5 multipacks of plain underwear/girl boxer type things. And then I have about 3 bras that I wear regularly.

betrayedandwobbly · 31/01/2018 22:42

STBX's mistress used to pride herself on wearing matching sets nigh on all the time. So I would make all sorts of unwarranted assumptions about anyone else who does

clary · 31/01/2018 22:45

I always think you'd need 2-3pairs of Knicks per bra. I usually wear a bra two days (tho with running in a different bra it's not two full days).

I prefer cotton knickers anyway. I do have one matching set whiche I wear on special occasions - but the knickers are like £8-10!
