Hair appt tomorrow

My hair is at the moment coloured a warm meh brown, in all honesty it's just shit.

I've got about an inch or so of root growth, so my natural lighter auburn & a few greys coming through. Haven't decided if I will just let it grow through or continue to cover with brown colour.

I've made an appt with hairdressers tomorrow because I fancy an ombre or balayage, just something so my hair doesn't look like 'lego' hair. It's just below shoulder length & thickish.

My main worry about getting it ombre/balayage is obviously bleached is used & I just don't want it turning out yellow! Or worse snapping off! The two photos - one how I'd like it & the other how I don't want it - I think my my best best it to show the hairdressers these photos - at least then he'll know what I want & don't want! (The one that looks a bit yellowy is the one I don't want!)

My hair is like the first pic. Hopefully a hairdresser will come along and help you with what to ask for but my hairdresser does a lot of backcombing with the colour of mine so there's no line and the blend is very natural. The sun plays havoc with the ends though and it goes very blond in the summer. I only get the blond done once a year if that though and just get the caramelly colours/roots touched up from time to time. Good Luck x

Thanks lazy doll for your reply, your hair is lovely if it's like the first pic! I've been googling ombres & balayages & a few horror ones pop up & I'm bricking it wondering if I should just cancel! I've had a couple of bad hair jobs done at the hairdressers before, not at the salon I'm going to though!

Quite a few years ago I went blonde, all over blonde highlights, so I looked well basically blonde & it didn't suit me. Fed up now of what I have, I've thought about ombre/balayage so it keeps some of the darkness, but adds some lightness.

Grinit probably doesn't look like that much though as it's permanently in a bun!! I'll try and attach the pics I took my hairdresser. It definitely pays to have one you trust though. Mines a friend now so I trust her judgement entirely.

Maybe say more toffee and caramel if you don't want to go too blond?

LazyDoll · 01/02/2018 10:59

Soooo?! How'd it go?Brew

Well! I've started another thread lol! About neutralising brassiness down 😂!!

After discussion with hairdresser, we agreed going too blonde in one step wasn't realistic - so we aimed for a caramel colour because I had lots of colour build up. Anyway it didn't look too bad to be honest but as always when you get home & it's been washed it it looks brassy to me so I'm on a mission to try & neutralise some of the brassiness. Will just have to rock the canary look for a while before I decide what to do, don't want to dye over it just got to get it so I'm comfortable with it!

Oh but that colour is gorgeous - not brassy just warm caramel. Are the roots darker?

youvegottobekidding · 02/02/2018 17:56

No, my roots are actually lighter, a mix of a few greys & my natural auburn - so I've a mish mash of colours going in at the moment! I just haven't been arsed to do my roots & wasn't sure if I wanted to continue to colour them, but I think I'll just do them a light neutral brown as under certain lights they look quite light.

As for the rest the of my hair, I still feel it looks a bit on the brassy side but i don't want to dye it dark again so I'll persevere with the blue/purple shampoos for a while & hopefully it'll tone down a bit, maybe I'll go back in a few months & get it done again -she did say it'll probably have to been done in stages.

Hello! I definitely wouldn't look at your 'new' hair and think 'brassy' but from your description I think it's not exactly what you wanted at the ends. It does look lovely though.

Good Luck with the purple shampoo x
