Blackheads on nose

Hello1290 · 28/01/2018 16:58

Can anyone recommend anything to help with blackheads. I've had them since I was a teenager, so over 30 years. The rest of my skin doesn't look too bad but I hate the greasy blackheads on my nose.

Are you sure there not sebaceous filaments?

Hello1290 · 28/01/2018 19:18

I don't know what a sebaceous filament is - do they look similar to blackheads - how would I tell the difference.

they're probably sebaceous filaments, which you can't do a lot about but superdrug glycolic acid pads help cleanse the pores.

Found this for you. I use the superdrug Glycolic toner but I leave them alone.

I figure anyone getting that close to me isn't interested in my nose.

Salicylic acid is better for blackheads/ sebaceous filaments than glycolic. Glycolic is only water soluble, you need salicylic which is oil soluble to penetrate through the serum which causes the SFs.
Paula’s choice 2% BHA is a good one. You can start with a travel sized bottle as you don’t need much. A few drops on a cotton pad, after cleansing, before any serums or moisturisers. Just start off a couple of times a week. Doesn’t work overnight but you should notice a difference after a month or so.

Thanks for the link I honestly didn't know there was such a thing as sebaceous filaments! The Paula's Choice website has some good reviews for the 2% BHA with a few negatives too - might be worth a try for me - Thanks All

I think mine are better since I started using an oil cleanser a year ago

YourOptimisticEyes · 28/01/2018 22:54

I tried everything to get rid of the blackheads on my nose but nothing ever worked until someone on a similar thread recommended the Oil Cleansing Method.

www.theoilcleansingmethod.com/

After about 2 weeks of using a mixture of castor oil (which is pricey but worth it) and olive oil my nose was blackhead free and 6 months on I do it a couple of times a week at least and it's made so much difference to my skin in general. Make up also looks better on now rather than just sinking into my pores as it used too. May be worth a try for you too.

Hello1290 · 28/01/2018 23:25

Thanks - could be worth a try how often did you do the oil cleansing for the first two weeks ?

OP posts:
ComeOnGordon · 29/01/2018 08:53

I use an oil cleanser 6 days out of 7 & wipe it off with a hot face cloth & moisturise everywhere (apart from my nose). On the 7th day I wash my face with a normal exfoliator. My skin has never looked better & Im convinced my wrinkles have slowed down a bit.

latara23 · 29/01/2018 19:46

My issue is that I have larger pores on my nose & when I had a head injury during a seizure recently the blood ran into the pores, making them darker.

I've cleansed, toned, washed & exfoliated lots but I'm sure they still look darker.

Thinking of trying Biore charcoal strips to deep clean my nose!!

Bit scared, had anyone used them??

YourOptimisticEyes · 29/01/2018 20:48

I did the oil cleansing method every night for the first two weeks, leaving it on for quite a while so it sank in properly. Also steamed my face over a bowl a couple of times a week during those weeks. Hope it works as well for you!

Paula's Choice 2% BHA. The end.

Nothing else is as good.

BrennieGirl · 30/01/2018 10:11

I have a similar blackhead problem as the OP.

Which Paula's choice product should I try? There are several in the 2% BHA range so I'm a bit confused.

AnnaMagnani · 30/01/2018 10:17

Don't think it matters. It's personal preference whether you want gel or lotion. I wanted gel and bought lotion by mistake and loved it. There are various ranges designed for younger - Clear, older - Resist, or just the BHA - Skin Perfecting.

So Skin Perfecting if you just want the BHA, Resist if you want some extra stuff like peptides, anti-oxidants etc.

Hello1290 · 01/02/2018 17:43

I have bought some castor and olive oil - thought I would see what results I got with a home made oil cleanser first. If this fails will try the Paula range. Thanks for all recommendations.

Any product containing salicylic acid.

Pixie Glow Tonic is great & I use daily - along with Nip & Fab Glycolic Fix Night Pads extreme (glycolic & salicylic acid) every 3rd night.

Soap & Glory Scrub Your Nose In It also good a couple of times a week.

I had brilliant results from these. You do have to up sun protection though - but well worth it fir the results

upsiedayz · 02/02/2018 22:17

I used Paula's choice for the first timea few months ago and had visibly less black pores on my nose and chin the next day. It's incredible.
