Looking for the perfect eyeshadow palette

DragonNoodleCake · 28/01/2018 16:36

Can anyone help me find my perfect eyeshadow palette? The wish list:

90% matte shades /10% shimmer

Good pigmentation

Nude shades for very fair skin/blonde hair/grey eyes (so taupe, blushed nudes, champagne gold, pale khaki, soft grey)

Good staying power

NO BROWN (I look like I've been punched in the eyes)

All palettes I can find are either blues/purples/pinks or nude browns. Any blushed nudes I find are shimmers

I have a couple of small palettes from MAC, they are not bad, so check it out. But other than that I think it would be very hard to find the palette you are looking for. These big palettes are designed to make people spend money and use less than half of the colors. A better way would be to construct one using the shades you really like.

ABH modern renaissance is lovely, as is HUDA rose gold

JesusTapdancingChrist · 29/01/2018 20:22

Modern Renaissance and Huda Rose Gold, while beautiful, are both far too warm toned for what you're after OP.

I can't think of a single palette that fits the bill as 99% of them are built around neutral brown shades these days and those that claim to be 'cool toned' tend to be full of mauve/purples.

What about making your own palette? Makeup Geek single shadows are available form Beauty Bay and are insanely good quality. I've looked at the available shades and made a list that I think might meet your requirements:

Barcelona Beach
Bedrock
Friend Zone
Faux Fur
High Tea
Moondust
Taupe Notch
Shimma Shimma
Glamorous

Whitecovers · 29/01/2018 20:25

I agree about getting single Make up Geek shadows and put them in a Z palette.

Sparkletastic · 29/01/2018 20:26

Put your own palette together at MAC or Bobbi Brown.

Huda Rose gold is great if you did want to look like you've been punched in the eye. It is only suitable for a very limited range of skin/hair tones (although I accept its a pretty palette.

I'm an urban decay fan but not for the colours you're after.

I’ve got s w7 one which I really like. In the nude I think it’s called. Good cream/ nude/ bone and green. I like it for the money but obviously can’t afford the more pricey ones but would love to try them!

WellTidy · 29/01/2018 20:53

I really like that w7 colour me nude palette. I've never heard of the brand though. What is the quality like in terms of pigment and staying power please? I am very tempted ...

Polkadot1974 · 29/01/2018 20:57

In the buff is the one I have. Tons on Amazon including a mighty mattes

Polkadot1974 · 29/01/2018 20:58

Sorry - just read that. I think they’re pretty good and for the money they’re worth a punt. Mines still on from 7.30am

Polkadot1974 · 29/01/2018 21:01

I’ve got v pale skin and red hair btw

Ollivander84 · 29/01/2018 21:02

Makeup geek and make your own, I love mine

silkpyjamasallday · 29/01/2018 21:13

I have a small palette with 5 colours from the Chanel les beiges collection. It has matt and sparkly shades of beige and a dark brown (which I know you don't want)

WellTidy · 29/01/2018 21:16

That's impressive polka. I have brown hair, green eyes, pale skin. I like your palette colours too.

MamaDuckling · 29/01/2018 21:16

Second the Chanel one (took me forever to find it, and then actually find anywhere with stock), but it's fab.

MrsPestilence · 29/01/2018 21:41

Zoeva palettes are sensibly priced £18. Rose golden might work for you.

Zoeva En Taupe (review here) sounds like a good fit.

Bare Minerals had a palette called The Posh Neutrals, though I'm not sure if they still sell it.

ZacharyQuack · 30/01/2018 09:53

Beauty Bay have 3 or 2 on Makeup Geek at the moment.

ZacharyQuack · 30/01/2018 09:53

3 for 2 dammit

CallarMorvern · 30/01/2018 11:18

I had almost given up on eyeshadow palettes as brown eye shadows make me look like the morning after a rough night! And they are almost all brown, or bright colours that aren't subtle. I like greys mainly. Anyway, my daughter found me this for Christmas...the picture isn't the best representation, as even the brown shades are more grey. But I'm so pleased with it.

Brilliant info - thanks all! I check all those out tonight!

Zoeva palettes seem to have nice cool colours, I've not tried them myself as I'm not that into eyeshadow but I've heard good things about them. Also sleek do a wide range of colours and finishes- if you look out for any spring/summer releases most brands tend to launch cooler coloured palettes then

Beketaten · 30/01/2018 14:42

This might fit the bill - from the Rosie at M&S range:
