Anyone used them? Are they any good? I've got mid length dyed brown hair , I bought nettle and marshmallow root shampoo bar made by funky soap. Will I regret it? Just want to do my bit with reducing plastics

I like my funky soap shampoo bar. You do need a vinegar rinse after each use though, and I only wash the roots as I find it quite drying to to the full length.
My hair isn’t coloured, so I hope someone else can comment on how the colour might be affected.

Bitchywaitress · 26/01/2018 02:04

Ohhh drying? Do they help if you are prone to greasy hair?

drinkswineoutofamug · 26/01/2018 02:10

Well got it on amazon prime so will give feedback tonight . Got some cider vinegar too!

I use a Lush one. Its lovely.
I lather it in my hands, rather than on my head.

Its lasted ages.

3littlerabbits · 26/01/2018 03:51

I use Lush ‘honey I washed my hair. It smells lovely, washes well and lasts forever!

PersisFord · 26/01/2018 04:41

I’ve got the lush honey one too and it is a bit drying. I swim a lot so need to wash all of my hair, not just the roots, and I’m noticing the effects. When I bought it there was another one that said it was moisturising though so I’ll try that next....

Why do you rinse with vinegar?! I have never done that...

barkingfly · 26/01/2018 05:37

vinegar removes all the shampoo from your hair; I did that when had very hard water.

hugoagogo · 26/01/2018 07:22

I have this one that I stumbled on in superdrug. It smells lovely, but it does feel like it's leaving some residue on my hair. When people talk about rinsing with vinegar how do you actually do it?

KittyB52 · 26/01/2018 07:28

I love Lush’s ‘New’ bar - it helped my itchy scalp and leaves my fine hair looking lovely and shiny.

BillywigSting · 26/01/2018 07:29

I used the godiva one from lush

Was perfect for me, I had greasy roots and dry ends, so I shampooed the roots, rinsed very well (no need for vinegar I find if you rinsed it for long enough) and used a conditioner bar on the ends.

I get quite a few compliments on my hair being very shiny thick now (and have to wash it less often which is a bonus because it's very long)

3littlerabbits · 26/01/2018 16:55

I don’t the ‘honey I washed’ one drying, it suits me very well. I use loads of conditioner though. I’ve bought one of the lush conditioner bars to use when current bottle is finished. Never tried one before so wil see what it’s like.

Which conditioner bar do you use Billywig?

drinkswineoutofamug · 27/01/2018 12:30

Shampoo bar has arrived, will report back later

I used one from The Funky Soap co and it was so greasy but they put in a leaflet saying this will happen and its your hair adjusting Hmm
I cant go into work looking like Ive not washed my hair for a year so its by the kitchen sink fir handwashing.
Going back to the lemony Lush one -lovely shiny hair

gandalfspants · 27/01/2018 12:39

I use the lush ones, can't remember which at moment.

They do a shampoo and conditioner one which is use if I'm going to blow dry or if my hair is feeling 'flyaway'.

drinkswineoutofamug · 27/01/2018 13:15

Well I used it twice as my hair is long. It lathered up well. But my hair feels dry and squeaky . Will see what it's like dry.

BrownTurkey · 27/01/2018 13:34

I use a Lush one (oblong shape, pale cream colour) and also keep a jar of coconut oil in the shower and use a tiny bit at the same time as the shampoo, to stop the drying effect. I am only a week or so in though - currently looks shiny, vibrant, a little lanker than I would like, and at first felt a bit crisp, but now feels nice. I am going to see if it carries on improving, and might get a conditioner bar too.

drinkswineoutofamug · 27/01/2018 13:38

Well now it's dry I'm pleasantly surprised. My hair feels soft considering I didn't use conditioner ( dyed hair too) . My daughter who's a bleached blonde is going to try it on hers. Will purchase a conditioner bar just in case

drinkswineoutofamug · 27/01/2018 14:31

@hugoagogo the vinegar rinse is 1 part cider vinegar to five parts water. Or something like that.

I have a Lush shampoo bar that smells like Lemongrass, and one which is definitely Brazil nut something or other. I like both, I have masses of dry wavy hair and they are fine. I also have the solid shampoo (not the round bars but a chunk, like cheese) of Lush Trichomania. This is not as good as the bars I find.

(be warned, their solid conditioner is shite Grin)
