Paraben free conditioner making hair greasy [Edited by MNHQ]

I ordered some hair conditioner with my online shop last week. Didn't pay masses of attention but ended up with a Garnier paraben free coconut water one. My hair absolutely hates it. It felt greasy almost straight away and looks disgusting on day 2 (I try not to wash my hair every day). I'm only using it on the bottom half of my hair, not on my scalp and I'm rinsing it really carefully. What the hell is going on? Is it the lack of parabens? Maybe my hair needs parabens. I'm going to have to get something else tomorrow, any advice?!

Parabens are only a preservative and not really doing anything helpful in the shampoo for your hair.

The bit of your hair that needs washing is the root, not the bottom half so it could be that, or it could just be that your hair hates that shampoo.

I use silicone and SLs-free shampoo and conditioner but it doesn't mean I like all silicone and SLS-free shampoo and conditioner - there are some I'd never have back in the house! But my hair is better off without silicones and SLS.

All Garnier shampoos do this to my hair. My hair is dry usually. I'd skip that shampoo, OP. Johnsons baby shampoo is my go to fix for when my hair has gone weird.

All shampoo is weird and horrible these days. I noticed that there aren't any for greasy hair any more!

It's not shampoo, it's conditioner! I'm using the same shampoo which I think is a Herbal Essences one. My hair is dry usually too which is why I tend to get the coconutty ones for dry hair.

I've just realised I said shampoo in my title and then conditioner later on, it's definitely conditioner NOT shampoo!

No idea. But head and shoulders minty one is amazing. I swapped shampoo for years, didn’t really care. Now I wash my hair twice a weeks. It’s shiny, smooth. Amazing

I used to use OGX shampoo. That was SLS free, and yes, the next day my hair was greasy. It helped with my psoriasis I believe, smelt lush, but a pain to use as my hair would grease up easily.
