Country boots (again, I'm sorry)

I'm giving up on my wellies as they keep going in the same place. I've returned them once, and think that perhaps they're not suitable for use as a walking boot. I'd like to replace them with boots that'll look nicer than wellies should I end up in a pub, whilst still allowing me to fish a ball out of the sea and wade through large expanses of mud.

I would prefer mid calf length in black, and this is causing me problems. I love the Dubarry Roscommon Boots, but they're £250, which I can't stretch to right now. I also like the Welligogs mondo boots, but still over budget. Before I either compromise and get something in brown, or eat beans for a month and splurge, can anyone suggest something for under £150? Toggi Caledons would be perfect in black.

Dublin River Boots.

I had the river boots and they didn’t last very long at all - the lining all came detached and they leaked pretty badly.

I’ve got neoprene lined Le Chameau wellies currently which are standing up pretty well!

Thanks for the replies. I considered the Dublin boots, but I would prefer a shorter boot, but those Horkas look perfect, not as gorgeous as the Welligogs, but at a quarter of the price I can't really complain.

I got some brilliant Merrell boots, second hand (with a tag still on) on ebay. They are amazing and only cost £50. It was a gamble, but they are waterproof, cushioned sole, great for walking in the countryside and on the school run or in town. I've barely worn anything else since I got them.

If you want something shorter, have you looked at Blundstone? They are super comfy and surprisingly waterproof. Mine are in their third year now and have faced all manner of mud/snow/slush and still going strong.

The blundstones are lovely, but a bit too short. I've been caught with the tide coming in on more than one occasion! I've seen some nice Merrell ones actually, but unless I get a similar eBay deal I may as well splurge. I really, really want to splurge, and am almost certain I shouldn't. Maybe I should just get wellies again. I'll look at le chameau ones. Mine are aigles and reviews said how good they were, and they are insanely comfortable. Shame they seem to have a consistent fault.

Ugg waterproofs?

Bottomofsmughill · 28/01/2018 11:03

I could do with something better for fog walking as my walking boosts aren't long enough. Does anyone know if there is are similar priced waterproof boots that have a side zip as I have a high instep Blush
