Altering or making clothes

There was a post last year about not being able to find what we are looking for in the shops, so making or altering our own. Has anybody actually started doing this?

I'm part way through a Colette patterns Laurel top, which I've lengthened by 2 inches and added the sleeve frill to.

Hi I frequently alter clothes to fit me particularly dresses as I have a big bust and have to take a size up for this. That then leaves the dress too big everywhere else. I used to makeep my own clothes but stopped due to illness. Good luck 😊

I started a few years ago, am mainly self taught. Can whip up a maxi dress or a pair of trousers in a couple of hours. I like the fact that I can choose fabrics and make several of a style I love. I really like the patterns on madebyrae, you print them and stick them together and her instructions are really easy to follow.

I go through phases of customising my clothes - e.g. altering sleeve length, turning long skirt into mini, etc. It can give new life to something I'm bored with.
