Please recommend me a pressed powder

I've been using Laura Mercier mineral pressed powder for a while now but it has been discontinued and is only now available in loose.

Can anyone recommend me a replacement?

Looking for pressed so can sling in handbag for top ups when out.

Key issues are visible pores, also have combination skin.

Like something with reasonable coverage as some days will just use primer, conceal any blemishes and then use powder all over. That said I like a natural finish.

No budget ( within reason) as for me it's a key part of my makeup routine. Live near London so access to most brands.

Thanks in advance!

I like bare minerals, works for me.

inneedofaliein · 21/01/2018 21:22

I looked at them a few years back but it seemed a bit faffy with 5 swirls/ 2 taps/ must apply clockwise routine. Know is v popular now though- is there just one main powder or several to choose from?

Benefit Hello Flawless has v good coverage. I use the Soap & Glory pressed powder in my handbag but it has less coverage than the Benefit.

Rimmel stay Matt but you need a puff/sponge to apply it as you only get the powder

I had a brilliant one from Mac, can't remember what it was called but it was amazing. Didn't even need to use foundation sometimes as the coverage was so great

I’ve got oily/combination skin and I found Mac Blot pressed powder to be the best. Reviews were very good when I was researching pressed powders, a couple of years ago now, but I’ve never felt the need to research anything new.

I like the bare minerals bare pro compact - less fussy then the loose powder.

Might be worth a try if you have a Debenhams close by? I got a free make over and I only went to rebuy the compact they had discontinued

MAC blot powder is my holy grail, check out the reviews on makeupalley

IvorHughJarrs · 21/01/2018 22:52

This is good.

I actually love this stuff, and it's so cheap. Give it a try.

Please recommend me a pressed powder

The Charlotte Tilbury one is exquisite. No cakiness or dryness whatsoever.

EdgeKote · 22/01/2018 08:32

I love the Hourglass Ambient powder in Ethereal Light.

OCSockOrphanage · 22/01/2018 09:27

MAC Skinfinish in whatever shade is best for you; there are lots and the consultants will help you match it properly.

Yogatoga09 · 22/01/2018 09:45

Mac Mineralize skinfinish-amazing

FlindersKeepers · 22/01/2018 10:11

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural is fantastic as a more glowy powder, it sounds more similar to your LM one.
For a cheapy, but with more coverage and less glow, Revlon Colourstay is really good.

Thanks everyone for the replies.

Should have said- I've tried MAC skin finish and found it really sits in my pores Confused

Went for benefit one thanks.. pleased so far. Great amount of coverage for me to be able to wear it alone with just primer and concealer..

I use the maybelline fit me pressed powder.

semideponent · 31/01/2018 22:20

Hourglass Dim Light is fabulous.

NavyGold · 01/02/2018 06:34

Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Pressed Powder. I've been using it regularly for years, I swear by it.

PerditaNitt · 01/02/2018 08:58

I use Tom ford translucent powder for touch ups. It doesn’t give real coverage but does make my skin much smoother and gets rid of shine. It is the nicest pressed powder I have ever used (as it should be for the crazy price). Shame the packaging weighs so much that most of the time I can’t be bothered to put it in my handbag.

thethoughtfox · 01/02/2018 09:02

It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores. It's a finishing powder so you put a little on after powder but if you have a good foundation, you can just use it directly over it. I can't recommend Milk Matte Foundation enough. It isn't matte but full coverage but thin not thick and heavy and gives a lovely glow.

Pannacott · 01/02/2018 10:19

Oh no I hope they've not stopped selling it! I tend to buy it on 3 for 2 so it would have been a while ago. Saying that, I remember it has been hard to find in the past, but then was back in stock again. I'm out of the country for a few months but will keep an eye out when I'm back.

Pannacott · 01/02/2018 10:25

It looks like it's still available online at least. £3.99!
