Help me out of my make up rut!

Feeling like I need to update my make up - both what I buy and what I do with it!

Current 'routine' is -
Garnier BB cream or No7 foundation
Powder eyeshadow (usually just a sweep of a single colour - I'm rubbish at blending, need help there)
Mascara
Blusher
Lipstick

I'm mid-forties and been doing this forever! I do tend to use a fair mix of colours/shades but am aware there's a huge variety of textures and formulations nowadays (she says, sounding about 85 years old!)

I've been using No7 Lift & Luminate foundation for ages but not really loving it any more.

So looking for product recommendations (I don't have £££s to spend, so mid/budget ranges please) as well as any links to You Tube tutorials or something (that aren't aimed at 19yr olds) for techniques.

I'd go to a beauty counter in a department store and ask them to do your make up. Might get some blending tips too :) otherwise I love mineral foundation, and most things Mac. Good brushes are important. Do you us anything to define your brows? That can make a massive difference.

Also mid 40s I like Hot & Flashy YouTube tutorials she's slightly older than us but her make up is always nice and modern and she has some great tips
I bought this www.superdrug.com/Nip-Fab/NIPFAB-Make-Up-Eyeshadow-Palette-12g-Sculpted-1/p/730749 yesterday (recommended by someone on here) and its really good. Nearly all the shadows are matte so great for crepey eyelids!

@caffeinequick I use some Mac, love their mascara but not convinced their eye shadow is worth the money. I do nothing to brows other than get them waxed Was looking at a brow kit the other day, might buy and have a play about with it.
