DH needs an update to his wardrobe. He mainly exists in outdoor type gear.

Our DC are now teenagers and we've started to out a bit more, into the city, pub and meals out type of stuff. Nothing formal. For example he would be wearing dark jeans and casual boots or shoes and maybe a lambswool v neck with a plain t-shirt under. he ends up having to wear a jacket that is more for wearing up a hill as it's that or a too big, padded style leather jacket. He also o has allergies that limit his wardrobe too.

He really needs a jacket option and as his hair is thinner, a hat of some type would be good too.

He doesn't want to look like an old man or mutton dressed as lamb :o

Mine dp has taken to wearing a flat cap to go out in the evenings. It actually quite suits him.

Can't help re jackets - dp wears either a big winter coat, a raincoat type anorak thing, or a cotton harrington jacket, depending on the weather. He hasn't got any others.

IMO middle aged men often look good in a dark wool jacket (better with jeans than a long coat) and a reasonably modern styled trilby or similar.

My dp, not mine dp.

What about something like this - it's the sort of thing the less trendy 40 something men I know would wear & look good in.

Thank you. DHs brother has the flat cap and scarf/wool jacket look and it suits him.

I should have added that DH is tall (6'2) and slim and has quite a small head... I suppose I was hoping that someone would know of a hat type somewhere between a beanie type thing and a cap - I'm not sure it exists! I think defo a shorter type jacket though.

Btw, it's no me forcing this on him, he was talking about it when we were out last night and saying he doesn't know what to look for. i'm dressing him up like a personal mannequin :o

Yes to a peacoat type thing - they look good with jeans, or smarter trousers.

My bf is 50 and wears a flat cap and a dark grey pea coat type jacket he bought from Cos. He wears slim fitting jeans and looks very stylish I think.

Look at Stephen Dillane in the Tunnel. He is 60 and looks great. Similar build.

I do like that Sadik, I'm not sure it's DPs thing or whether he would look good in it. He has a 33/34 waist and is slim but fit and a bit lanky looking.

He would normally wear something like this in black

Would he wear this:

This

or

This

or

This

WaxOnFeckOff · 21/01/2018 17:26

Thank Folly, maybe a bit too much detail on the first one and links 2 and 3 seem to be the same thing.

I quite like it, he'd probably not like the silver buttons but otherwise it's a maybe from me :)
