Semi Permanent Hair Colour that covers greys?

My natural hair colour is an auburn colour, however, for the best part of 20 years or so i've been dying my hair brown, dark brown, back to auburn and brown again!

Now, when my roots come through, i can see a few greys! my roots have been quite dye resistant/stubborn for some time now and i found the only dye to cover them successfully was the Schwarzkopf Poly Coly colour tint - a permanent dye.

I'm thinking now that i may just leave my natural colour to come through or perhaps not to colour it as dark. My roots against my remaining colour look quite light, so i was thinking if i could at least get a semi to cover my roots instead of using a permanent all the time, but i'm not sure a semi would work on my roots?

Are they're any semi's that are particularly any good at covering greys or stubborn hair?

I don’t think you will find a semi to cover grey - at best they only cover ‘first grey’

I used to use Nice n Easy semi permanent on my salt and pepper hair. It always worked well, i just left it on for the longest recommended time. I went natural last year and although i definitely look older, I LOVE the freedom, the soft texture of my hair, and the cool white fringe streak i have. It took ages to grow all the color out though.... i had a year or so of short stylish cuts which were also very liberating.

Thanks for the tips. I don't think I have many greys, but I've only got about an inch or so of root growth to go by & can see a few sprouting! As I said my roots are quite resistant to dyes, I don't know if it's because of my natural red colour. I'm trying to grow my hair longer & want to give it a rest from the permanent dyes. I was also thinking, because I'm not getting any younger perhaps the darker colour won't be working in my favour anymore! Also I'm finding it a bit of a faff on trying to do my roots - I'm getting more cack- handed at it & always miss bits! I wonder if I'm as well as just trying that spray or powder stuff to blend my roots in for a while & let it grown down. Might look odd for a while but once it's at a length I like I could just get some highlights on darker bits to blend it all in.

I find the Casting dyes cover my greys

I use casting as well and i have quite a bit of grey. Works well.

Do you leave on for the recommended time or a bit longer?

I leave on for the recommended time. I use Casting crème gloss.
