High street bag recommendations for work

Nottsangel2015 · 18/01/2018 20:29

Hello all

I am after a new bag for work. I can only really afford high street prices (under £50).

It needs to be quite large and able to wear over my shoulder so I can be hands free on the bus with my travel mug.

I carry a lot of crap I.e lunch, snacks, make up, gloves, umbrella, brush, perfume, purse etc and the occasional bits of work.

I've had a look online but not really seen anything i fancy. Anyone seen anything suitable to the above lately?

I will add I prefer slouchy styles to boxy styles If that makes sense.

Have a look at Mia Tui they have some great bags with loads of different pockets and space for bottles etc
I've just got the Sydney backpack as I walk the kids to school then walk to work so I wanted to be hands free.
It's got an insulated bottle holder an insulated section for lunch which if I put an ice pack in keeps it super cool
A little clear bag for make up and stuff and a padded section for a laptop if u wanted although I put my work files here.

Have a look am I allowed to put links. Sorry if not.

I’ve seen some nice ones on the Tu range in Sainsbury’s and Matalan have nice ones too.

Nottsangel2015 · 18/01/2018 20:55

MrsJelly thank you there are some lovely ones! I really like those large across the body ones! Never even thought of one like that! Shall have a good look tonight.

Never thought about TU thanks Jane don't know why because I get my leggings from there and school uniform for dd! Shall
Also check out Matalan as not looked there either! I've only looked in primark, new look, next, oasis and river island so far to be fair.

I got mine from Clarke’s in the sale - It’s been used every day for two and a half years and is still going strong.

Mrsjellybum · 18/01/2018 21:00

@Nottsangel2015 I was nervous at first as I hadn't heated of them before but read all the good reviews. Really quick delivery and super big storage compartments

I love it so much that I've also been looking at some of the other styles and want one of the across body ones.
They do deals at the moment and you get a free make up bag / toiletry bag (fricking awesome) and a shopping bag which turns out is also awesome.

God I sound like a sales rep 😂

ChishandFips33 · 18/01/2018 21:06

TKMaxx will have a good selection in your price range

SimonBridges · 18/01/2018 21:08

I came on to say Mia Tui too.
I have three of their bags. They are so useful and well designed inside.

Nottsangel2015 · 18/01/2018 21:12

I'm not a huge fan of Clarke's to be honest but shall have a look.

I do really like those MIA Tui ones, never heard of them so thank you for mentioning!

Ooh tk max! Doh! And I pass one everyday on my lunch break lol def nipping in there tomorrow!

Thanks everyone! So glad I asked :-)

I was going to recommend Mia Tui as well but someone has beaten me to it!! I use the mini Jen for work but I actually got it for hand luggage as it hooks over your suitcase handle

I may have ordered two new ones today Blush

goose1964 · 18/01/2018 21:17

I'd recommend a Kipling bag if you can get one. They're a bit over your budget but I've found them in TKMaxx and on Amazon usually older designs but not seconds

Mrsjellybum · 18/01/2018 21:17

@PaddingtonBearHardStare @SimonBridges Ohhh fellow Mia Tui lovers. I'm new to Mia Tui bought one last month and I have fallen head over heels it actually HAS changed my life 😂😂😂

PaddingtonBearHardStare · 18/01/2018 21:18

PS if you happen to want Jane there is 20% using code Jane20, if you follow them on FB they have a lot of offers on, that's where I saw this one and ordered

They also have a loyalty scheme and get money off vouchers by email

SimonBridges · 18/01/2018 21:18

I my Mia Tui Emma that I have used every day for work for about two years. It suffers a lot of abuse but is unmarked with no cuts, scratches or tears.

PaddingtonBearHardStare · 18/01/2018 21:20

Haha Mrs I love them!! I ordered two today with a view to replacing all my bags with MT. I got the Matilda Mae offer so that's 3 bags coming which will take me to 6 Blush

violetgrey · 18/01/2018 21:21

Have a look at Zara and Mango, they have totes with long straps that may fit your requirements.

Allaboutthatcake · 18/01/2018 21:21

I’m converted to Mia tui now!

Girlsworld92 · 18/01/2018 21:25

I've never heard of Mia this bags but now I want one! Unfortunately I've put myself on a shopping ban but I think I'll put one of these on my birthday list. They look fab x

travailtotravel · 18/01/2018 21:25

I have some Mia Tui bags too. Awesome for work.

Inthishouse · 18/01/2018 21:38

Blimey - what a lot of Mia Tui comments. I had one and it was disappointingly shit. Stitching was really wobbly and the lining was ripped when it arrived. Massive arseache getting a refund too - really obnoxious customer services Angry

My next bag was from Tesco. Still going strong!

Allaboutthatcake · 18/01/2018 21:40

Oh no they look so pretty as well inthishouse

Inthishouse · 18/01/2018 21:44

It's ok Allabout there will be other pretty bags which are also well made! Grin
TK Maxx is always worth a look and at least you get to pick things up and check them properly in a real shop

Friedgreen · 18/01/2018 21:53

Unicorn81 · 18/01/2018 22:07

Nottsangel2015 · 18/01/2018 22:24

I am definitely ordering a Mia Tui, the reviews look good and lots of comments on here. Have followed them on Facebook also. Currently fancy the Olivia bundle!

Unicorn omg thank you for that link to the Superdry bag, I have just ordered it BlushI love Superdry hoodies and knitwear and my husband wears loads of their stuff! Can't believe I've never seen bags like that before! Thank you! I probably will use more for weekends than work. You can never have too many bags can you lol!

Thanks everyone, going to check out Debenhams and tk maxx tomorrow on my lunch before I decide! I have a big promotion coming at work in April so want to set myself up with a few nice bags for work ready!

Next month I'll be looking for some new work outfits so eyes posted for that post soon Grin
