Going out-out tops/outfits

TheNoseyProject · 18/01/2018 10:57

I have two tops I wear on rotation for going out-out and I feel I need something new as I’m going away for a weekend with my best mate (can’t. Wait.)

I like tops which are longer but not too long (so cover to the bottom of the zip on jeans for example) and which aren’t boxy. A lot of tops seem boxy but I have a waist but smaller boobs so those look v aging on me.

I have quite a prim face (for want of a better description) so I don’t tend to go for things with little collars as I look like a little girl.

I like sleeveless.

Any suggestions? Also what to wear with? I tend to wear black jeans (a bit boring?) and t-bar low heels (a bit dated?) I can’t really cope with heels over 2.5 inches (I’m a trainers girl at heart!)

All advice v appreciated. I really want to feel up to date and confident when I go out.

Tia

What dress size are you and how old are you? Colour of hair? Are you pale skinned or otherwise?

TheNoseyProject · 18/01/2018 11:22

12 in dresses and tops, 14 in trousers. I’ve got brown hair and blue eyes and v pale skin. I’m 34.

You sound like halter necks may suit you. I saw one the other day in Reiss. Let me see if I can find it.

CheapSausagesAndSpam · 18/01/2018 11:34

Oh you're very like me OP....I also have a small bust and as Inclusive says, halters do suit...as do slash or boat necks.

This is nice...but is it a bit pricey? What's your budget?

allinclusive · 18/01/2018 11:36

Oh No i couldn't find it.

CheapSausagesAndSpam · 18/01/2018 11:50

I just saw a halter in Reiss inclusive was it a patterned one? Different sort of warm colours on it?

TheNoseyProject · 18/01/2018 13:00

Oh the Reiss is lovely but I bit pricey. Probably up to £50 for top if that’s realistic.

Reiss going out tops are worth the money, last ages.
Is there anything in the Ted Baker sale maybe, or even Coast?

TheNoseyProject · 18/01/2018 13:02

Was this the reiss halter? That is nice and at that price worth ordering to try on just not sure if the hem looks gathered as I’m not a fan on that:

No it was ruffled at the neck, beautiful. I tried to convince bff who has the shape for it, to try it on but she wouldn't, which is why I remembered it.

OP, I'm sure you'll find something you like for that budget. Asos is a good place to browse.

I'm the complete opposite shape wise otherwise I would have suggested mint velvet or similar.

TheNoseyProject · 18/01/2018 13:12

The problem I find with asos is the length everything waistband skimming

What about something like this?

The trouble with trying to find longer-line things is that many veer into matronly...frumpy. I often wear a longer slim fitting black vest top...tight...underneath shorter tops and it looks fine with some styles.

TheNoseyProject · 18/01/2018 15:13

Oh I quite like that though I wouldn’t have noticed it in a shop.

Where do you get your longer vests? That might be a good fix for me!
