Work night out outfit

Help!!
I never go out and have been invited out with new colleagues. The plan is to meet in town and basically go to bars and clubs etc.

What on earth do people wear for this sort of thing these days?? I am 36, size 10 and don't particularly want to wear jeans as that's what we all wear for work. Dress me please!!

Always safe in a nice dress! Black goes everywhere without looking too try-hard, and you can jazz it up with jewellery or a coloured / sparkly jacket.

I would go ankle cigarette trousers and a blouse, probably from & other stories but I am 5 years older than you.

Coated leggings/ jeggings found everywhere with fitted top & heels/ peep toe booties. That's not to try hard & pretty much what most women in their 30s were wearing last night in Manchester
