Any Manic Panic/Directions users around?

For the past 6 months I've been using Wella Perfecton rinse in Violet on my naturally grey hair. Have loved the colour (as photo) but as it's a leave in product, it has ended up making my hair feel like it's got lots of product build-up and generally a bit grotty. It's also an absolute pain the arse to apply and leaves the bathroom in a total state.

Have some Directions dye in Lavender arriving today and was going to add just a wee bit of that to some conditioner and using that as a very pastel-hued dye?

Would it have a similar effect and how long do you reckon it would last? Happy to have purple hair for the foreseeable future but a bit daunted by the prospect of it not washing out fully.

Any advice/tips would be most welcome!

I used to use it all the time on bleached hair. I found the pastel shades don’t really “take” for very long, so was out easy.so if you use it and don’t find the colour as long lasting/vibrant as you’d like,I’d recommend getting a stronger colour and mix that with conditioner and use that!

I used to pop it on damp hair and leave it for a couple of hours to get a nice coverage and staying power. It never damaged my hair and I loved it!

Recently tried their Pastel pink and it didn’t take to my hair at all. So will try again with a More vibrant pink and conditioner mix.

Cheers Vi Brew

I'm going to go very cautiously with the amount and then either increase the quantity or, like you say, use a more pigmented dye if I decide I want a stronger result.

Will post a before and after later Smile.

Consider trying the Bleach London cream colours. They’re like a conditioner in consistency already, much prefer them Directions which is super runny and goes everywhere.

I wanted to dye my white/silver/grey hair lilac, and was recommended the Garnier Perfect Silver toner on here, leaving it on longer than recommended. Worked brilliantly and washed out evenly just leaving me looking really shiny and bright

Good luck!!! Your hair is amazing btw. I’d kill for that curl!

I think you will struggle to maintain that colour with diluted lavender. It's been a while since I used that shade but I remember it being very pastel. Typically you want the conditioner mix two or three shades darker than the colour you want. Cleo rose fades down to a similar colour but is quite pink. That mixed with some purple or blue might work if you want something stronger Smile
