Hi, new to this section of the forum but my daughter needs a dress and I don't know where to look, would really appreciate some help.

She is size 10, 5ft 7 and still growing. Requires a black dress, below the knee, minimum 3/4 length sleeves. No sequins allowed, possibly allowed a small lace detail or similar but definitely not all over lace and no colour. Skirt of dress must not be neat fitting. Budget fairly flexible for the right dress, but she will probably only wear this dress on two occasions unless she suddenly stops growing. Hoping that online stores will ship to Ireland.

Have bought a black sleeveless jumpsuit from Quiz and a jacket with 3/4 length sleeves as a fallback but she likes to conform and the instruction was dress.

Does anyone have any ideas where I could look? Thanks.

What type of event? School? Dance/ orchestral performance/ appearing in a play? Evening or daywear?

Any other strictures e.g. neckline?

I like John Lewis search engine for dresses -

wellhonestly, it's an orchestral performance, skirt of dress has to allow for cello, should have mentioned that originally, sorry. That second dress looks perfect. Thank you

My Dd plays cello and have to be careful in what she chooses
She had her first dress from Debenhams but got another one from House of Fraser
I don't know how to link but will try

She really liked it and said that there is plenty of fabric which stretches so her cello can
Be placed easily

Sorry just read your post thoroughly just now
There are no sequins but glass beads in the dress and you can always wear a cardigan over a dress
Better to go for a full length dress and she would be sitting with her legs wide apart in a stage

professorlayton1, that's a beautiful dress, and a good point about the full length. Up until now she has worn black trousers and tops but this is a much grander venue than normal and a strict dress code is being applied. Thank you

Ah, cello!

Definitely go for length - I love the dress Prof linked to, but would be wary of embellishment at skirt level that could scratch the wood of the cello - Prof this wasn't a problem for your DD?

OP hope your daughter has an amazing time!

No the beads stop above the knees and there was no problem with it scratching her cello
Yes it is a beautiful dress... she was over the moon
